Critical analysis of Zwietering correlation for solids suspension in stirred tanks
Ayrancı Tansık, İnci (Elsevier BV, 2014-03-01)
Design specifications for solids suspension (just suspended speed-N-js) in stirred tanks are currently based on the original form of the Zwietering correlation. There are several limitations of this correlation which can lead to poor predictions. The limitations, however, are not clearly defined. In this paper we review the reported limitations of applicability of the Zwietering correlation in detail, and propose ways to predict N-js which extend some of these limits. New data is reported and a detailed ana...
Critical evaluation of endogenous regional development theories
Çiçek, Hüseyin; Eraydın, Ayda; Department of City and Regional Planning (2013)
Regional development discourses and theories have significantly changed since the born of regional science. Focus of regional development theories has shifted from industrialization efforts via large-scale enterprises and transfer of central government funds to disadvantaged regions to endogenous capabilities and potentials of innovation and knowledge creation. Endogenous factors and self-development capabilities are highly emphasized by recent development literature. Changes in the regional development dis...
Critical analysis of matching schemes in capacitively coupled discharges
Demokan, O (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2003-10-01)
It is shown that, in capacitively coupled radio frequency discharges, the amplitude of the discharge current may not have a unique value for a matching network designed to yield the maximum power transfer. The condition, which may lead to this uncertainty, is derived to avoid the possible, undesired mode of operation.
