Carcinomas are complex tissues comprised of neoplastic cells and a non-cancerous compartment referred to as the 'stroma'. The stroma consists of extracellular matrix (ECM) and a variety of mesenchymal cells, including fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, endothelial cells, pericytes and leukocytes(1-3).

Investigation of SNX3 in colon cancer
Cingöz, Harun; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif; Department of Biology (2019)
Sorting Nexin 3 (SNX3) is part of the retromer complex that recycles cargo receptors back to plasma membrane or to Trans Golgi Network. WNT ligand carrier protein Wntless (WLS) is a known SNX3 cargo protein. Our earlier data suggested over expression of SNX3 in colon cancer cells. Considering its importance in receptor recycling, we hypothesized SNX3 to be a potential modulator of cancer related receptors. To begin understanding the role of SNX3, we developed RNAi models of SNX3 in SW480 colon cancer cells ...
Analysis of ligand-receptor cross-linked fragments by mass spectrometry

G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a class of integral membrane receptor proteins that are characterized by a signature seven-transmembrane (7-TM) configuration. The alpha-factor receptor (Ste2p) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a GPCR that, upon binding of a peptide ligand, transduces a signal to initiate a cascade of events leading to the mating of haploid yeast cells. This study summarizes the application of affinity purification and of matrix-assisted laser-desorption ionization time-of-flight (MAL...
Experimental Realization of Single Current Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography
Sadighi, Mehdi; Şişman, Mert; Açıkgöz, Berk Can; Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat (2020-08-08)
To obtain low-frequency anisotropic conductivity distribution of biological tissues recently Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography (DT-MREIT), which is combination of DTI and MREIT techniques, is proposed. There are two in vivo applications of DT-MREIT in the literature where two linearly independent current injection patterns are used. Decreasing the number of current injection patterns to one improves the feasibility of DT-MREIT in clinical applications. In this study, DT-MRE...
Comparative phosphoproteomic analysis reveals signaling networks regulating monopolar and bipolar cytokinesis.

The successful completion of cytokinesis requires the coordinated activities of diverse cellular components including membranes, cytoskeletal elements and chromosomes that together form partly redundant pathways, depending on the cell type. The biochemical analysis of this process is challenging due to its dynamic and rapid nature. Here, we systematically compared monopolar and bipolar cytokinesis and demonstrated that monopolar cytokinesis is a good surrogate for cytokinesis and it is a well-suited system ...
Visualization of interactions between fluorescently tagged g protein α11, α12/13 subtypes and adenosine 2a, dopamine 2 or homodimer adenosine 2a/2a receptors
Kostromin, İrmak Begüm; Son, Çağdaş Devrim; Department of Biology (2018)
G-Protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) belong to one of the largest family of cell surface receptors, which transmit extracellular signals to intracellular responses by interacting with G- proteins. The G proteins are known as molecular switches that regulates different pathways via control of secondary messengers and signaling proteins. Adenosine 2A (A2A) and Dopamine 2 (D2) receptors belong to G-Protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) family and are located mostly in striatopallidal γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) cont...
