Catalytic partial oxidation of methane was investigated in a reverse flow reactor with commercial Rh/Al2O3 catalyst in pellets. The process is carried out in a catalytic fixed bed reactor and switching of feed flow direction is obtained through four electrovalves synchronized in pairs. Temperature profile along the catalyst bed was measured by fast IR themiography and product composition was measured with a continuous gas analyzer.

Temperature profile in a reverse flow reactor for catalytic partial oxidation of methane by fast IR imaging
Simeone, M.; Salemme, L.; Allouis, Christophe Gerard; Volpicelli, G. (2008-10-01)
Catalytic partial oxidation of methane with air was investigated in a reverse flow reactor with commercial Rh/A1(2)O(3) catalyst in pellets. Temperature profile of the catalyst bed was measured by fast IR thermography and product composition was measured with a continuous gas analyzer. The effect of internal heat recovery on reactor performance and catalyst thermal stress is presented and compared with steady state operation. Feed direction switching time, total flow rate, and methane to oxygen ratio were i...
Catalytic conversion of methane to methanol on Cu-SSZ-13 using N2O as oxidant
İpek Torun, Bahar (2016-01-01)
Direct catalytic methanol production from methane is achieved on Cu-SSZ-13 zeolite catalysts using N2O as the oxidant. The methanol production rate on Cu-SSZ-13 (on a per gram basis) was more than twice the rate on Cu-mordenite and more than four times the rate on Cu-ZSM-5.
Kinetic studies for boron carbide formation in a dual impinging-jet reactor

The chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of boron carbide was investigated on a tungsten substrate from a gas mixture of BCl3, H-2, and CH4 in a dual impinging-jet reactor that was connected to an FT-IR spectrometer for on-line analysis of the reactor effluent stream. During CVD of boron carbide, the formation of BHCl2 was experimentally verified, and beta -rhombohedral B4C was formed. Conversion to boron carbide was found to increase with an increase in the BCl3/CH4 ratio. However, conversion to dichloroborane ...
Microwave-assisted ammonia decomposition reaction over iron incorporated mesoporous carbon catalysts
VARIŞLI, DİLEK; Korkusuz, Cansu; Doğu, Timur (2017-02-01)
Microwave-assisted ammonia decomposition reaction was investigated to produce COx free hydrogen, for fuel cell applications. Iron incorporated mesoporous carbon catalysts were prepared at different metal loadings, following an impregnation procedure. Mesoporous carbon acted as the catalyst support, as well as the microwave receptor. Complete conversion of ammonia was achieved at 450 degrees C over the catalyst having 7.7 wt% Fe, when the reaction was carried out in the microwave reactor system, using pure a...
Hydrogen production over molybdenum loaded mesoporous carbon catalysts in microwave heated reactor system
Guler, Melih; Doğu, Timur; VARIŞLI, DİLEK (2017-12-15)
Ammonia decomposition reaction to produce COx free hydrogen over molybdenum incorporated mesoporous carbon based catalysts was studied in a microwave heated reactor system. Mesoporous carbon is acting as the catalyst support as well as the microwave receptor in the reaction medium. While the highest conversion value was 49% in conventionally heated reaction system at 600 degrees C, total conversion value was achieved over the same catalyst at 400 degrees C in microwave heated system with a GHSV of 36,000 ml...
