This paper presents new data concerning the geochemistry and distribution of the Bi-Be-Mo-Cd-Pb-Nb-Ga, and REY in the Panyi, Xieqiao, Xinji, Zhuji, and Zhuji Xi coals of the Huainan Coalfield. The results indicate that the Huainan bituminous coals were characterized by medium ash yields and low to medium sulfur contents. The mineral assemblage present in the Huainan coals is mainly made up of quartz, kaolinite, pyrite, and calcite. The minerals, ash yield, sulfur contents, volatile matter contents, Sr/Ba, SiO2/Al2O3, and (CaO + MgO + Fe2O3)/ (SiO2 + Al2O3) ratio varied significantly in the Huainan Coalfield, which are attributed mainly to vertical variation in the depositional environment. These coals contain high contents of Ga, Nb, Mo, Be, Pb, Ba, SiO2, Fe2O3, TiO2, CaO, Na2O, Al2O3, MnO, K2O, and MgO, especially in the marine-influenced environment coals. The average contents of Ga, Nb, Mo, Be, and REY are higher than those of world-wide bituminous coals, thus a hidden treasure is a yet to-be-realized new economic potential. The Bi, Be, Mo, Nb, Ga, and REY have mixed organic-inorganic affinity, while Cd and Pb mainly have an organic affinity in the Huainan coals. Compared to the average Chinese coals, the REY are enriched in the Panyi, Xieqiao, and Xinji coals, slightly lower in the Zhuji coals and depleted in the Zhuji Xi coals. Compared to the upper continental crust, REY in the Huainan coal samples has medium-REY and light-REY enrichment. The average concentration of oxides (ash basis) of the rare earth elements and Y in the Panyi (on average 1120.3 mu g/g), Xieqiao (1287.7 mu g/g), Xinji (1148.7 mu g/g), and Zhuji (1025.1 mu g/g) coals are higher than the cut-off grade for industrial deposits of these elements and thus, the Huainan coals are considered as raw materials for the recovery of rare earth elements.

Enrichment and distribution of trace elements in Padhrar, Thar and Kotli coals from Pakistan: Comparison to coals from China with an emphasis on the elements distribution
Munir, Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Ali, Muhammad Ubaid; Abbas, Qumber (2018-02-01)
This paper reports the mineralogical and geochemical compositions of the Padhrar (salt-range), Thar (Block Nos. 3 and 5) and Kotli coals. The coal investigated in this study is lignite to sub-bituminous coal, with a broad range of ash yields, volatile matter content and sulfur contents. The mineralogical characteristic, major and trace elements were determined by X-ray diffraction, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, respectively. The min...
Field characterisation of weathered Ankara andesites
Paşamehmetoğlu, A. Günhan (Elsevier BV, 1997-3)
This paper presents held and some index properties of weathered Ankara andesites, carried out over a period of 4 years. Ankara andesites are distributed widely around the city of Ankara, on which numerous important structures have been founded. Thus, the weathering characteristics of Ankara andesites, both from the engineering geological and the rock mechanics points of view are important. The held work involved assessment of the rock mass weathering grades, conduction of simple field tests, Schmidt hammer ...
Analysis and characterization of an electrostatically actuated in-plane parylene microvalve
Yıldırım, Ender; Külah, Haluk (IOP Publishing, 2011-10-01)
This paper presents analysis and implementation of a simple electrostatic microvalve designed for use in parylene-based lab-on-a-chip devices. The microvalve utilizes an in-plane collapsing diaphragm. To investigate the pull-in behavior of the diaphragm and flow characteristics, a thorough analysis is carried out using the finite element method. Microvalves with different diaphragm radii are fabricated using surface micromachining techniques. Pull-in tests are carried out under the no-flow condition with ai...
Measurement of the W(+/-)Z production cross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2012-03-23)
This Letter presents a measurement of W(+/-)Z production in 1.02 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 7 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2011. Doubly leptonic decay events are selected with electrons, muons and missing transverse momentum in the final state. In total 71 candidates are observed, with a background expectation of 12.1 +/- 1.4(stat.)(-2.0)(+4.1)(syst.) events. The total cross section for W(+/-)Z production for Z/gamma* masses within the range 66 GeV to 116 GeV is determined to be sig...

In this study, four new 2,5-dithienylpyrroles (SNS) 1-(3-fluoro-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-FPTP), 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-ClPTP), 1-(3-bromo-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-BrPTP) and 1-(4-bromo-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (p-BrPTP) containing meta and para substituted benzene ring at the nitrogen atom were synthesized via Paal-Knorr condensation of 1,4-di(2-thienyl)-1,4-butanedione with corresponding halo-substituted anilines. The mon...
