A fractographic study on toughening of epoxy resin using ground tyre rubber
Kaynak, Cevdet; Akovali, G. (2001-01-01)
This study is a fractographic examination of epoxy resin modified with scrap car tyre regrinds used as toughening phase. Five different surface treatment techniques, used to improve the compatibility at the interface between the rubber particles and the epoxy matrix, were: oxygen plasma, two silane coupling agents, acrylic acid and acrylic acid/benzoylperoxide mixture. Rubber parts of ground scrap car tyres with a size range of 355-500 mum after surface treatment were mixed with epoxy. This mixture was pour...

The synthesis and sodium-silver ion exchange of sodalites
Acar, Aybar Can; Culfaz, A (2003-05-01)
Aluminosilicate sodalites of three different types-chlorosodalite, basic sodalite, and oxalate sodalite-have been synthesized in their sodium forms using hydrothermal synthesis. The syntheses were investigated in terms of their relative rates of crystallization and final crystallinities using powder X-ray diffraction. These sodalites were subsequently loaded with silver by aqueous ion exchange. The exchange was studied primarily by monitoring the solution phase. Rate of exchange and equilibrium behavior hav...
A micro-macro approach to rubber-like materials?Part I: the non-affine micro-sphere model of rubber elasticity
Miehe, C; Göktepe, Serdar; Lulei, F. (Elsevier BV, 2004-11)
The contribution presents a new micro-mechanically based network model for the description of the elastic response of rubbery polymers at large strains and considers details of its numerical implementation. The approach models a rubber-like material based on a micro-structure that can be symbolized by a micro-sphere where the surface represents a continuous distribution of chain orientations in space. Core of the model is a new two-dimensional constitutive setting of the micro-mechanical response of a singl...
