The effectiveness of self-healing epoxy and polyurethane hybrid coatings filled with linseed oil (LO) containing nano-sized capsules, potassium ethyl xanthate and benzotriazole was investigated for self-healing and anticorrosion performance on the copper metal films. The characteristics of synthesized nanocapsules were studied by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) for chemical structure, thermal stability and surface morphology investigations. Furthermore, size distribution of the prepared nanocapsules was investigated using dynamic light scattering (DLS). The anti-corrosion effect of coatings was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and optical microscopy imaging. Taguchi method was used to reduce the number of experiments and anti-corrosion efficiency evaluations. The synthesized nanocapsules have 459-712 nm diameters. LO loading efficiency was almost 60%. Hybrid self-healing coatings which contain self-healing and anti-corrosion agents together showed synergistic effect at optimum levels (3 wt% LO and 5 wt% anti-corrosion agent). Adhesion pull-off test shows that higher amounts of nanocapsules, potassium ethyl xanthate and benzotriazole resulted in weaker adhesion for coatings.

Preparation and characterization of cost effective spray pyrolyzed absorber layer for thin film solar cells
Sankir, Nurdan D.; Aydin, Erkan; Unver, Hulya; Uluer, Ezgi; Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2013-09-01)
In this study, highly (1 1 2) oriented crystalline copper indium disulfide (CuInS2) thin films with high mobility have been deposited via ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. Structural and electrical properties of CuInS2 thin films were examined to utilize them in solar cell applications. Various amounts of precursor solution ranging from 0.25 to 2.02 ml/cm(2) were used to form CuInS2 thin films onto the soda lime glass substrates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed that all sprayed films were pin...
Fabrication of low reflective nanopore-type black Si layer using one-step Ni-assisted chemical etching for Si solar cell application

Nanotextured Si fabricated through metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) technique exhibits a promising potential for producing antireflective layer for photovoltaic (PV) application. In this study, a novel single-step nickel (Ni) assisted etching technique was applied to produce an antireflective, nonporous Si (black Si) in an aqueous solution containing hydrofluoric acid (HF), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and NiSO4 at 40 degrees C. Field emission scanning electron microscope was used to characterize differen...
Formation and characterization of infrared absorbing copper oxide surfaces
Arslan, Burcu; Erdogan, Metehan; Karakaya, İshak (2017-04-30)
Copper oxide formation has been investigated to combine the advantages of producing different size and shapes of coatings that possess good light absorbing properties. An aqueous blackening solution was investigated and optimum composition was found as 2.5 M NaOH and 0.225 M NaClO to form velvet copper oxide films. A two-step oxidation mechanism was proposed for the blackening process by carefully examining the experimental results. Formation of Cu2O was observed until the entire copper surface was covered ...
Investigation of the Mechanical Properties of Al2O3 Reinforced Nickel Composite Coatings
Yılmaz, Olgun; Karakaya, İshak (2018-03-15)
Addition of inert ceramic particles improves the mechanical and tribological properties of nickel coatings significantly. Two different surfactants; ammonium lignosulfonate (ALS) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), were used in a typical sulfamate nickel plating solution in varying concentrations to arrange the floatation and wetting conditions of Al2O3 particles (~300 nm) in the electrolyte. In addition to the effect of surfactants, effects of current density and...
