To address various methodological challenges in assessing gaze-to-face contact, we followed an approach where the experiment was conducted twice, each time with a different set of interviewees. In one of them the interviewer’s gaze was tracked with an eye tracker, and in the other the interviewee’s gaze was tracked. The gaze sequences obtained in both experiments were analyzed and modeled as Discrete-TimeMarkov Chains. The results show that the interviewer made more frequent and longer gaze contacts compared to the interviewee. Also, the interviewer made mostly diagonal gaze aversions, whereas the interviewee made sideways aversions (left or right). We discuss the relevance of this research for Human-Robot Interaction, and discuss some future research problems.

Unpredictable Solutions of Impulsive Quasi-Linear Systems
Akhmet, Marat; Tleubergenova, Madina; Nugayeva, Zakhira (2022-01-01)
© 2022. L&H Scientific Publishing, LLC. All Rights Reserved. The impulsive differential equations with unpredictable perturbations are under investigation. The definition of the discontinuous unpredictable function with the discrete unpredictable set of discontinuity moments is introduced. The existence and uniqueness of asymptotically stable discontinuous unpredictable solutions for quasi linear systems are proved. Examples with simulations are given to illustrate the results.
Optimization of nitrogen sources for the maximum production of cellulases and xylanases by Aspergillus Niger strains
Iram, Attia; Çekmecelioğlu, Deniz; Demirci, Ali (2021-01-01)
© ASABE 2021. All rights reserved.Hydrolytic enzymes such as cellulases and xylanases are required for second-generation bioethanol production. Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) has high fiber content which can be used to produce such enzymes by various fungal species. Aspergillus niger is one of the top producers of hydrolytic enzymes. The addition of nitrogen sources can further enhance enzyme production in DDGS based media. Therefore, in this study, two A. niger strains, NRRL 330 and NRRL 567,...
SEQUENTIAL ORBIT DETERMINATION VERIFICATION FOR GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITES
Köker, Abdulkadir; Tekinalp, Ozan; Yılmaz, Ü. Cezmi; Şakacı, Cemal (2021-01-01)
© 2021, Univelt Inc. All rights reserved.Sequential orbit determination using angle and range measurements for geostationary satellites is presented. The approach includes position, velocity and bias estimation with Unscented Kalman Filter. The measurements are taken from the actual ground station antennas at TURKSAT. In order to evaluate the accuracy and the robustness of the system, estimation is repeated with single and multiple ground station measurements for satellite T4B. Estimation results are compar...
MISSION ANALYSIS OF A NEW SOLAR SAIL SATELLITE CONCEPT AT LOW EARTH ORBIT
Polat, Hakkı; Tekinalp, Ozan (2021-01-01)
© 2021, Univelt Inc. All rights reserved.Exploiting the propellant free maneuver capability of solar sail satellites for high resolution Earth observation mission is addressed with an elliptical low Earth orbit. The employed orbit has a low perigee altitude for observation and a high apogee altitude for orbit maneuvers. For the purpose of mission analysis of this new concept, a reference satellite configuration is designed with an aim to determine the technological readiness level based on the characteristi...
ON DISCRETIZATION OF DARBOUX INTEGRABLE SYSTEMS ADMITTING SECOND-ORDER INTEGRALS
Zheltukhın, Kostyantyn (2021-01-01)
© 2021 K. Zheltukhin N. Zheltukhina. All Rights Reserved. We consider a discretization problem for hyperbolic Darboux integrable systems. In particular, we discretize continuous systems admitting x- and y-integrals of the first and second order. Such continuous systems were classified by Zhvber and Kostrigina. In the present paper, continuous systems are discretized with respect to one of continuous variables and the resulting semi-discrete system is required to be also Darboux integrable. To obtain such a d...
