Assessment of Lake Sediment Sensitivity to Earthquakes and Climate Cycles along the North Anatolian Fault

Assessment of Food Supply of Small Pelagic Fish in the Black Sea Based on Their Lipid Content
Nikolsky, Victor; Shulman, Georgiy; Shchepkina, Alla; Yuneva, Tatjana; BAT, LEVENT; KAYA, YALÇIN; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan; SEYHAN, KADİR (2012-09-01)
Total lipids in anchovy and sprat were measured and interpreted as indicators of their nutritional condition and food supply for the period 2005 to 2010. High lipid content in anchovies suggested that they were able to found sufficient food and favorable environmental condition supporting their stock biomass on a certain level which was strongly limited by heavy fishing. Wide inter-annual fluctuations in anchovy landings could be caused by variability in yearly recruitment and due to shifts in the spatial d...
Assessment of carbon dioxide plume behaviour within the storage reservoir and the lower caprock around the KB-502 injection well at In Salah
Shi, Ji-Quan; Sınayuç, Çağlar; Durucan, Sevket; Korre, Anna (2012-03-01)
Surface uplift has been detected over all three of the In Salah CO2 injection wells with corresponding subsidence also observed over the gas production area. The distinctive two-lobed uplift pattern over KB-502 has attracted much research interest, as it suggests the tensile opening of a structural discontinuity at depth. The latest reservoir simulation effort at Imperial College involved the implementation of a non-sealing fault (zone) with dynamic transmissibility in the revised reservoir/overburden model...
Assessing centrifugal gravity concentration to scavenge gold from flotation tails
Sakuhuni, G; Altun, Naci Emre; Klein, B (null; 2014-10-01)
The opportunity of decreasing gold losses by using a centrifugal gravity concentrator as a scavenger on flotation tailings was evaluated. The tailings of the Cu-flotation circuit of the Nyrstar's Myra Falls Mine at Vancouver Island, Canada, were used for the tests. A Knelson CVD6 was retrofitted on Cu-rougher tailing and Cu-cleaner tailing streams during normal operation to recover misplaced liberated gold entities as well as gold bearing middlings. The analysis and comparison of gold, silver, copper, lead ...
Assessing nonstationarity impacts for historical and projected extreme precipitation in Turkey
Aziz, Rizwan; Yücel, İsmail (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2021-01-01)
The temporal variability in yearly and seasonal extreme precipitation across Turkey is investigated using stationary and nonstationary frequency approach. Four frequency distributions namely, generalized extreme value (GEV), gumbel, normal, and lognormal distributions are used for the historical period (1971-2016) as well as the projection period (2051-2100). The nonstationarity impacts are determined by calculating the percentage difference of return levels (30 years) between stationary and nonstationary c...
