FORMATION OF METASTABLE VATERITE CRYSTALS IN A POLYMER MATRIX BY GASEOUS DIFFUSION
PITCHER, MICHAEL W.; NESHAT, ABDOLLAH; SEYYIDOĞLU, SEMIH (SciELO Agencia Nacional de Investigacion y Desarrollo (ANID), 2008-6)
A composite consisting of a polymer and calcium carbonate has been synthesized by allowing carbon dioxide to diffuse into a poly(ethylene oxide) film containing a Source of calcium ions. The X-ray pattern of the synthetic composite material shows that the least thermodynamically stable polymorph of calcium carbonate, vaterite is the mineral phase which is formed, rather than the most thermodynamically stable calcite phase. This effect has been seen in other reports of crystallization of inorganic phases whi...
Formation of Titanium Dioxide Nanotube Arrays by Anodizing Ti6Al4V Alloy
Karakaya, İshak (The Electrochemical Society, 2014-04-01)
Titanium dioxide thin films of nanoporous structures have gained great interest due to their large surface area and high reactivity properties in their applications. One of the methods used to form titanium dioxide nanostructures is anodizing the surface of titanium in F- ion containing electrolytes. Effects of HF concentration (0.1 to 0.5 wt.%), anodizing potential (10 to 30 V) and time (30 to 180 minutes) on the titanium dioxide nanotube formation were investigated by anodically oxidizing Ti6Al4V alloy in...

Formation of trace byproducts in the premixed flames of CH3Cl/C2H4
Huang, JW; Onal, I; Senkan, SM (1997-05-01)
The chemical structure of an atmospheric pressure, fuel-rich (equivalence ratio 3.06), flat flame of a chloromethane and ethylene (CH3Cl/C2H4 = 1.99) has been studied experimentally using both heated microprobe and cold trap sampling techniques followed by high-resolution gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The identities and absolute concentrations of more than 50 major and minor hydrocarbon and chlorinated hydrocarbon species have been established, including a large number of aromatics, substitu...
Formation of capsaicin loaded nanoemulsions with high pressure homogenization and ultrasonication
Akbaş, Elif; Soyler, Betul; Öztop, Halil Mecit (Elsevier BV, 2018-10-01)
Nanoemulsions could increase the bioavailability of lipophilic compounds. In this study, nanoemulsions were obtained by high pressure homogenization and ultrasonication using capsaicin (oleoresin capsicum) (2 g/100g) in the oil phase and Tween 80 (2 g/100g), glycerol (0-50 g/100g) in the aqueous phase at pH 7.4 and 3.8. Mean droplet sizes below 65 nm were obtained with ultrasonication. Translucent nanoemulsions with minimum 79% efficiencies were obtained with high pressure homogenization. Pressurized nanoem...
