Cotton flow
Kişisel, Ali Ulaş Özgür; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Tekin, Bayram (IOP Publishing, 2008-8-5)
Using the conformally-invariant Cotton tensor, we define a geometric flow, the Cotton flow, which is exclusive to three dimensions. This flow tends to evolve the initial metrics into conformally flat ones, and is somewhat orthogonal to the Yamabe flow, the latter being a flow within a conformal class. We define an entropy functional, and study the flow of nine homogeneous spaces both numerically and analytically. In particular, we show that the arbitrarily deformed homogeneous 3-sphere flows into the round ...
Cotton value chain and upgrading strategies of cotton producers in the value chain: the case of Şanlıurfa
Kahraman, Aslıhan; Pınarcıoğlu, M. Melih.; Department of City and Regional Planning (2019)
Shifting patterns in global trade and production systems bring different new implications for the regions who want to integrate into it. From the perspective of regional development, engaging with these global trade and production networks became one of the major concerns of developers and policy makers; however, the terms and conditions of the engagement determine whether the region gains or loses because of this integration. Value chains approach, in this respect, come into prominence as a useful framewor...
Grain Scale of Ottoman Istanbul: Architecture of the Unkapan Landing Square
Erkal, Namık Günay (2018-05-01)
The grain provisioning of the Ottoman capital city Istanbul for the subsistence of its considerable population, including the court, the military, and the religious institutions, was maintained through the same location on an extramural landing square along the wharfs of the Golden Horn from the mid-fifteenth century up until the mid-nineteenth century: the Unkapan. This article addresses the urban architecture of Istanbul Unkapan as an illustration of the Ottoman official distribution centers referred to a...
Bearings-only tracking
Bingöl, Haluk Erdem; Demirekler, Mübeccel; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
The basic problem with angle-only or bearings-only tracking is to estimate the trajectory of a target (i.e., position and velocity) by using noise corrupted sensor angle data. In this thesis, the tracking platform is an Aerial Vehicle and the target is simulated as another Aerial Vehicle. Therefore, the problem can be defined as a single-sensor bearings only tracking. The state consists of relative position and velocity between the target and the platform. In the case where both the target and the platform ...
Cloth tearing simulation
Önal, Emre; İşler, Veysi; Ündeğer, Çağatay; Department of Game Technologies (2013)
Among different physical simulation topics, cloth simulation is one of the popular subjects in computer graphics. There are many different studies published on different aspects of cloth simulation, but there are not many studies which are focused on the tearing of cloth. Existing studies related to this topic have only dealt with some aspects of the problem and have not provided general solutions. In this thesis, we provide a generic solution for different aspects of the problem of tearing cloth. Some of t...
