Micromechanical Characterization of Additively Manufactured Ti-6Al-4V Parts Produced by Electron Beam Melting
Özerinç, Sezer; KAŞ, MUSTAFA; Motallebzadeh, Amir; Nesli, Safak; Duygulu, Ozgur; YILMAZ, OĞUZHAN (2021-08-01)
Ti-6Al-4V is one of the most promising alloys for electron beam melting (EBM) of structural parts due to its outstanding properties and its extensive use in the aerospace, automotive, and energy industries. In this study, we report a detailed and systematic micromechanical characterization of additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V parts produced via EBM. The specimens were characterized by microhardness, nanoindentation, micropillar compression, and microscratch measurements. The results show that the Ti-6Al-4V ...
MICROSTRUCTURAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF OXIDE DISPERSION STRENGTHENED INCONEL 718 ALLOYS PRODUCED BY SELECTIVE LASER MELTING
Yalçın, Merve Yeşim; Aydoğan Güngör, Eda; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2023-1-26)
The efficiency of the systems generally increases with increasing service temperatures. For instance, high operation temperatures in the energy industry reduce operation costs, fuel consumption, and environmental pollution. Similarly, high service temperatures result in a longer range, higher carrying capacity, and performance in aerospace applications. However, service temperatures of currently used Nickel-based superalloys especially in aerospace and defense applications are limited below 700 °C. The form...
Micromechanical modelling and two scale simulation of epoxy glass composites with interphases and interfaces
Fleischhauer, Robert; Dal, Hüsnü; Kaliske, Michael (2010-03-26)
Composite systems consisting of glass fibres and epoxy matrix with interphases and interfaces will be considered in the modelling approach. The interphase forms the transition zone between the epoxy matrix and the glass fibre. The interface is the layer between the glass fibre and the surrounding interphase. The macroscopic strength of the composite material is intrinsically related to the bond strength of the polymeric/solid interface and the micromechanical characteristics of the three phases (epoxy, glas...
Microstructural and magnetic characterization of iron precipitation in Ni-Fe-Al alloys
DUMAN, Nagehan; Mehrabov, Amdulla; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat (Elsevier BV, 2011-06-01)
The influence of annealing on the microstructural evolution and magnetic properties of Ni(50)Fe(x)Al(50-x) alloys for x=20, 25, and 30 has been investigated. Solidification microstructures of as-cast alloys reveal coarse grains of a single B2 type beta-phase and typical off eutectic microstructure consisting of proeutectic B2 type beta dendrites and interdendritic eutectic for x=20 and x>20 at.% Fe respectively. However, annealing at 1073 K results in the formation of FCC gamma-phase particles along the gra...
