Bu proje tipolojik ve biçimbilimsel olarak oldukça farklı Türkçe anadil (D1) ve İngilizce ikinci dilde (D2), yazılı sözcük üretimi esnasında merkezi dilsel işlemleme ve çevresel motor süreçler arasındaki ilişkinin aşamalı mı yoksa bağlantılı-basamaklı mı olduğunu ve bu ilişkiyi etkileyen biçimbilimsel faktörleri incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın D1 Türkçe bölümünde 30, D2 İngilizce bölümünde ise 40 katılımcı bir çevrimiçi yazılı resim adlandırma görevine katılmıştır. Katılımcılara Türkçe deneyde 64, İngilizce deneyde ise 32 adet bileşik sözcük karşılığı olan resim sunulmuş ve katılımcılardan bu resimleri klavye kullanarak adlandırmaları istenmiştir. Her iki deneyde de bileşik sözcüklerin bütünsel sıklığı ve ikinci bileşen sıklığı manipüle edilerek Yüksek-Yüksek (YY: gözyaşı, fireplace), Yüksek-Düşük (YD: kafatası, footprint), Düşük-Yüksek (DY: denizkızı, seahorse) ve Düşük-Düşük (DD: balkabağı, barcode) olmak üzere dört farklı deneysel koşul oluşturulmuştur. Deneylerde yazmaya başlama süresi ve tuşlar arası harcanan süreler kayıt altına alınmıştır. D1 Türkçe deney sonucunda hem bileşik sözcük hem de bileşen sıklığının yazmaya başlama süresine etki ettiği gözlenmiştir. Tuşlar arası harcanan sürenin ise seslem ve biçimbirim sınırı olan pozisyonlarda sınır olmayan pozisyonlara oranla daha uzun olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu sonuçlar bileşik sözcüklerin zihinsel sözlükten hem bütünsel hem de ayrıştırılarak çağrılabileceğini ve bu sözcükler için dilsel işlemlemenin yazma eylemi esnasında da bağlantılı basamaklı devam ettiğini desteklemektedir. Öte yandan, D1 Türkçe deneyin aksine D2 İngilizcede bileşik sözcük sıklığı yahut bileşen sıklığının yazmaya başlama süresi analizinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmamıştır. Tuşlar arası harcanan süre analizine bakıldığında ise, aralık konumu ve bileşik sözcük sıklığının anlamlı etkisi gözlenmiştir. Türkçe sonuçlara benzer biçimde, biçimbirim sınırındaki tuşlar arası harcanan sürenin herhangi bir sınıra denk gelmeyen aralıklara oranla daha uzun olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu bulgular, hem D1 Türkçe hem de D2 İngilizcede dilsel işlemlemenin yazma eylemi esnasında bağlantılı-basamaklı bir şekilde devam ettiği ve biçimbilimsel faktörlerin bu süreçte etkili olduğu savını desteklemektedir.
