Moving Object Detction in 2D and 3D Scenes
Sırtkaya, Salim; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
This thesis describes the theoretical bases, development and testing of an integrated moving object detection framework in 2D and 3D scenes. The detection problem is analyzed in stationary and non-stationary camera sequences and different algorithms are developed for each case. Two methods are proposed in stationary camera sequences: background extraction followed by differencing and thresholding, and motion detection using optical flow field calculated by أKanade-Lucas Feature Trackerؤ. For non-stationary ...
Modeling of a generic laser guided weapon with velocity pursuit guidance and its performance analysis using various control strategies
Güner, Dünya Rauf Levent; Platin, Bülent Emre; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2004)
In this thesis, a base for the modeling and analysis of laser guided weapons is constituted. In particular, the effects of several control schemes on the performance of a generic laser guided weapon system are investigated. In this generic model, it is assumed that the velocity pursuit guidance is employed via a velocity aligning seeker as the sole sensor. The laser seeker is modeled experimentally, based on data obtained by conducting a series of tests. The laser reflection is also modeled. Aerodynamic coe...
Diamond-Based Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers in Immersion
Cetin, Ahmet Murat; Bayram, Barış (2013-02-01)
Diamond is a superior membrane material for capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs). By using ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) membrane and plasma-activated wafer bonding technology, a single diamond-based circular CMUT is demonstrated and operated in immersion for the first time. The diamond-based CMUT, biased at 100 V, is excited with a 10-cycle burst of 36 Vp-p sine signal at 3.5 MHz. Pressure generated on a 2-D plane coincident with the normal of the CMUT is measured using a broadband...
Numerical investigation of rotor wake-stator interaction
Gürak, Derya; Akmandor, İbrahim Sinan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2004)
In this thesis, numerical solutions of a 2D stator compressor cascade at a given inlet Mach number (0.7) and four values of incidence (49°, 51°, 53° and 55°) are obtained. Reynolds averaged, thin layer, compressible Navier Stokes equations are solved. Different grid types have been generated. Finite differencing approach and LU - ADI splitting technique are used. Three block parallel Euler and Navier Stokes solutions are compared with the experimental results. Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model is used in the t...
Developing a GIS based methodology for decision making for multiobjectiverecreational areas, case study : Eastern Black Sea Region
Kaya, Zehra Gözde; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; Department of Geodetic and Geographical Information Technologies (2006)
In this study, a method is proposed for decision making for multiobjective recreational areas, by using multi attribute decision making rules within GIS. The method provides integration of ecological, sociocultural and economic considerations of an ecologically valuable area in a systematic way. The first stage of the methodology includes determination of suitable areas for three usages of forest area; outdoor recreation, timber production and protection needed areas. The second stage comprises decision mak...
