In this work the classification given indicates the possible automorphism groups of relatively minimal rational elliptic surfaces according to the configuration of singular fibers on the surface. A relatively minimal rational elliptic surface is equivalent to the blow-up of the projective plane at the 9 base points of a pencil of cubics whose generic element is a smooth cubic. This pencil gives a map to the projective line. The generic fiber of this map is a smooth elliptic curve but there are also singular fibers. The configuration of these singular fibers plays an important role in determining the automorphism group of the surface. The set of sections of the above map is a group called the Mordell-Weil group of the surface, which embeds in the automorphism group of the surface. The Mordell-Weil group is completely determined by the configuration of singular fibers on the elliptic surface as shown by Oguiso and Shioda. If one considers the subgroup of automorphisms preserving the zero section of the surface setwise, then the automorphism group is the semi-direct product of the Mordell-Weil group and this subgroup. This subgroup is a group of order at most 24 and I will present how to determine it from the configuration of singular fibers on the rational elliptic surface.

Automorphism groups of rational elliptic surfaces with section and constant J-map
Karayayla, Tolga (2014-12-01)
In this paper, the automorphism groups of relatively minimal rational elliptic surfaces with section which have constant J-maps are classified. The ground field is a",. The automorphism group of such a surface beta: B -> a"(TM)(1), denoted by Au t(B), consists of all biholomorphic maps on the complex manifold B. The group Au t(B) is isomorphic to the semi-direct product MW(B) a < S Aut (sigma) (B) of the Mordell-Weil groupMW(B) (the group of sections of B), and the subgroup Aut (sigma) (B) of the automorphi...
On symplectic quotients of K3 surfaces
Cinkir, Z; Onsiper, H (Elsevier BV, 2000-12-18)
In this note, we construct generalized Shioda-Inose structures on K3 surfaces using cyclic covers and almost functoriality of Shioda-Inose structures with respect to normal subgroups of a given group of symplectic automorphisms.
Analysis of Ring Beams for Discretely Supported Cylindrical Silos
Zeybek, Özer; Topkaya, Cem; Rotter, J Michael (2017-10-05)
In cylindrical silos, the presence of discrete supports results in a non-uniformity of meridional stresses around the circumference. In larger silos, a sizeable ring beam is normally used, resting on discrete column supports beneath the cylindrical shell to redistribute the majority of the discrete forces from the column supports into a more uniform stress state in the cylindrical wall. Although there is a complex interaction between cylinders and supporting ring beam, EN 1993-4-1 provides the bending and t...
MODELING OF CONTROL FORCES FOR KINEMATICAL CONSTRAINTS IN MULTIBODY SYSTEMS DYNAMICS - A NEW APPROACH
IDER, SK (Elsevier BV, 1991-01-01)
Conventionally kinematical constrains in multibody systems are treated similar to geometrical constraints and are modeled by constraint reaction forces which are perpendicular to constraint surfaces. However, in reality, one may want to achieve the desired kinematical conditions by control forces having different directions in relation to the constraint surfaces. In this paper the conventional equations of motion for multibody systems, subject to kinematical constraints, are generalized by introducing gener...
Construction of phase diagrams to estimate phase transitions at high pressures: A critical point at the solid liquid transition for benzene
Ibrahimoglu, Beycan; Üner, Deniz; Veziroglu, Ayfer; Karakaya, Fuat; Ibrahimoglu, Beycan (2021-04-01)
Phase diagrams are an integral part of the estimation of material properties in the case of high temperature and pressure. The pressure-temperature (P-T) phase diagram is used to determine the state of aggregation (solid, liquid, gaseous) of a substance under given conditions. This article presents a method to reveal new states in the phase diagram, including the possibility of the plasma state. Using the empirical data of benzene, a critical pressure beyond solid-liquid equilibrium was estimated. It is hig...
