Physiological, psychological and attention related performance problems of shift work system in Aselsan
Bilgin Koçak, Ece; Çilingir, Canan; Çakır, Murat Perit; Department of Industrial Engineering (2014)
Shift work is inevitable and increasing demand of working society of modern society. In this study, one aim was to observe physiological and psychological consequences of shift work on workers of Aselsan. Survey of Shift workers is used for this purpose, and as a result, some consequences of shift work is observed on cardiovascular and digestive symptoms, but in general trend, participants does not complain about physiological and psychological concerns. This can be explained by the young age group. Some co...

Physiological hyperarousal as a specific correlate of symptoms of anxiety among young psychiatric inpatients
Gençöz, Faruk; Gençöz, Tülin (Scientific Journal Publishers Ltd, 2000-01-01)
Neuropsychological, cognitive, and factor-analytic models of anxiety and depression consistently view the physiological hyperarousal (PH) factor as a specific component of anxiety disorders and symptoms. In the present study, young psychiatric inpatients were assessed on self-report measures of PH, anxiety, and depression. PH was associated with symptoms of anxiety, but riot depressive symptoms, consistent with the specificity of PH to symptoms of anxiety.
Physiological, Biochemical, and Transcriptomic Responses to Boron Toxicity in Leaf and Root Tissues of Contrasting Wheat Cultivars
Kayihan, Ceyhun; Oz, Mehmet Tufan; EYİDOĞAN, FÜSUN; Yucel, Meral; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni (2017-02-01)
In this study, we examined physiological, biochemical, and transcriptomic responses to toxic boron (B) treatment in leaves and roots of two wheat cultivars in order to gain better insight into B response or tolerance mechanisms. Delayed development and reduced vigor caused by high B were not observed in leaves and roots of both cultivars. Length, wet weight, and dry weight were not markedly changed under B toxicity. In leaves, when compared to control, 995 and 892 genes were significantly expressed at least...
Physiological, Biochemical, and Transcriptional Responses to Single and Combined Abiotic Stress in Stress-Tolerant and Stress-Sensitive Potato Genotypes
Demirel, Ufuk; Morris, Wayne L.; Ducreux, Laurence J. M.; Yavuz, Caner; Asim, Arslan; Tindas, Ilknur; Campbell, Raymond; Morris, Jenny A.; Verrall, Susan R.; Hedley, Pete E.; Gokce, Zahide N. O.; Caliskan, Sevgi; Aksoy, Emre; Caliskan, Mehmet E.; Taylor, Mark A.; Hancock, Robert D. (2020-02-01)
Potato production is often constrained by abiotic stresses such as drought and high temperatures which are often present in combination. In the present work, we aimed to identify key mechanisms and processes underlying single and combined abiotic stress tolerance by comparative analysis of tolerant and susceptible cultivars. Physiological data indicated that the cultivars Desiree and Unica were stress tolerant while Agria and Russett Burbank were stress susceptible. Abiotic stress caused a greater reduction...
