Understanding its cellular dynamics and its role in basal ganglia circuits is important not only in diagnosing behavioral disorders and psychiatric problems as addiction and depression but also for developing therapeutic treatments for them. Building a computational model would expand our comprehension of nucleus accumbens. In this work, we are focusing on establishing a model of nucleus accumbens which has not been considered as much as dorsal striatum in computational neuroscience. We will begin by modeling the behavior of single cells and then build a holistic model of nucleus accumbens considering the effect of synaptic currents. We will verify the validity of the model by showing the consistency of simulation results with the empirical data. Furthermore, the simulation results reveal the joint effect of cortical stimulation and dopaminergic modulation on the activity of medium spiny neurons. This effect differentiates with the type of dopamine receptors.

Towards Group Cognitive Analysis of Collaborative Learning with Eye Tracking and Brain Imaging Technologies
Çakır, Murat Perit (null; 2013-06-15)
This paper aims to motivate the need for a group cognitive approach for the multimodal analysis of learning to better account for neural and ocular correlates of collaborative learning. In reference to related work in the emerging fields of two-person neuroscience and dual-eye tracking, the paper argues for the need for moving from a singlemind perspective to a group cognitive perspective where neural and ocular correlates of joint meaning making are investigated in the context of sequentially unfolding soc...
Comparison of Cuboid and Tracklet Features for Action Recognition on Surveillance Videos
Bayram, Ulya; Ulusoy, İlkay; Cicekli, Nihan Kesim (2013-01-01)
For recognition of human actions in surveillance videos, action recognition methods in literature are analyzed and coherent feature extraction methods that are promising for success in such videos are identified. Based on local methods, most popular two feature extraction methods (Dollar's "cuboid" feature definition and Raptis and Soatto's "tracklet" feature definition) are tested and compared. Both methods were classified by different methods in their original applications. In order to obtain a more fair ...
Modeling oxidation and plasticity induced damage in thermal barrier coatings (TBCS)
Sait, Ferit; Gürses, Ercan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2020)
Computational analysis and simulation of multi-physics phenomena taking place in coating systems is still a challenging task. Specifically, for ceramic coatings used as protective systems for base materials against elevated temperatures, known as thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems, construction of continuum level models which can express coupled nonlinear phenomena has attracted great attention. Thermal stresses, oxidation, creep and numerous other mechanisms and phenomena make it even harder to model an...
Automated classification of remote sensing images using multileveled MobileNetV2 and DWT techniques
Karadal, Can Haktan; Kaya, Muhammed Çağrı; Tuncer, Turker; Dogan, Sengul; Acharya, U. Rajendra (2021-12-15)
Automated classification of remote sensing images is one of the complex issues in robotics and machine learning fields. Many models have been proposed for remote sensing image classification (RSIC) to obtain high classification performance. The objective of this study are twofold. First, to create a new space object image collection as such a dataset is not currently available. Second, propose a novel RSIC model to yield highest classification performance using our newly created dataset. Our presented autom...
