Among them, bacilysin is an enzymatically synthesized dipeptide that consists of L-alanine and L-anticapsin. Previous research by our group has suggested bacilysin's role as a pleiotropic molecule in its producer, B. subtilis PY79. However, the nature of protein interactions in the absence of bacilysin has not been defined. In the present work, we constructed a protein-protein interaction subnetwork by using Omics Integrator based on our recent comparative proteomics data obtained from a bacilysin-silenced strain, OGU1. Functional enrichment analyses on the resulting networks pointed to certain putatively perturbed pathways such as citrate cycle, quorum sensing and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. Various molecules, which were absent from the experimental data, were included in the final network. We believe that this study can guide further experiments in the identification and confirmation of protein-protein interactions in B. subtilis.

The four models presented in this comparison study are documented in their respective articles submitted along with this article. Each of these four models is based on the analysis of the large NGA-Sub database. Three of the four current models are developed for a global version as well as separate regionalized m...

The subset used to develop the GMMs includes 3914 recordings from 113 subduction interface earthquakes with magnitudes between 5 and 9.2 and 4850 recordings from 89 intraslab events with magnitudes between 5 and 7.8. A one-pass predictor-corrector algorithm for the inverse Langevin function
BAŞDEMİR, SELÇUK; Dal, Hüsnü (2022-01-01)
© The Author(s) 2022.Inverse Langevin function has an extensive use in statistical mechanics, polymer chemistry, and physics. Main struggle is that the inverse Langevin function cannot be expressed in an exact analytical form. To this end, many approaches to estimate the inverse Langevin function have been proposed. A trade-off can be observed between level of accuracy and mathematical complexity in the existing approximants in the literature. In the present contribution, a simple, yet efficient one-pass pr...

© The Author(s) 2021.The present study aimed to investigate the extent to which audio description contributes to the visually impaired individuals’ comprehension of a film by examining the visually impaired and sighted participants’ comprehension of two versions of the same film, one with and the other without supplementary audio description. The results of the study showed that the visually impaired participants were able to comprehend and narrate the events to the same extent as the sighted participants d...
Efficient exascale discretizations: High-order finite element methods
Kolev, Tzanio; et. al. (2021-01-01)
© The Author(s) 2021.Efficient exploitation of exascale architectures requires rethinking of the numerical algorithms used in many large-scale applications. These architectures favor algorithms that expose ultra fine-grain parallelism and maximize the ratio of floating point operations to energy intensive data movement. One of the few viable approaches to achieve high efficiency in the area of PDE discretizations on unstructured grids is to use matrix-free/partially assembled high-order finite element metho...
