An evolutionary approach for the target allocation problem
Erdem, E; Özdemirel, Nur Evin (Informa UK Limited, 2003-09-01)
We propose an evolutionary approach for target allocation in tactical level land combat. The purpose is to assign friendly military units to enemy units such that the total weapon effectiveness used is minimised while the attrition goals set for the enemy units are satisfied. A repair algorithm is developed to ensure feasibility with respect to the attrition goal constraints. A tightness measure is devised to determine the population size of the genetic algorithm as a function of constraint tightness. Also,...

An additive cost approach to optimal Temporal Logic control
Aydın Göl, Ebru (2014-07-21)
This paper presents a provably-correct Model Predictive Control (MPC) scheme for a discrete-time linear system. The cost is a quadratic that penalizes the distance from desired state and control trajectories, which are only available over a finite horizon. Correctness is specified as a syntactically co-safe Linear Temporal Logic (scLTL) formula over a set of linear predicates in the states of the system. The proposed MPC controller solves a set of convex optimization problems guided by the specification. Th...
An ontology-based approach for delay analysis in construction
Bilgin, Gozde; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (2018-02-01)
Delay is a common problem of the construction sector and it is one of the major reasons of claims between project participants. Systematic and reliable delay analysis is critical for successful management of claims. In this study, a delay analysis ontology is proposed that may facilitate development of databases, information sharing as well as retrieval for delay analysis within construction companies. A detailed literature review on construction delays has been carried out during the development of the ont...
An ontology-based approach for delay analysis
Bilgin, Gözde; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Department of Civil Engineering (2011)
Delay is a common problem of construction sector. Recent improvements in the sector increased the competition and this led the construction projects to be more complex than before and difficult to be completed in time. This situation not only increased the delay problems, but also made the analysis of delays difficult and that caused further problems as disputes between parties to the contract. Sound knowledge in delay analysis subject is needed to enhance the solution of the delay problem in construction p...
