It is not enough to equip teachers and students with new technologies to develop 21st century skills; these technologies need to be successfully integrated into classes. Teachers’ adoption of innovative teaching approaches and educational technologies depends on their ability to use these approaches and technologies successfully. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the importance of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in geography teaching and to provide basic map information and GIS skills to geography teaching. In this context, 21 geography teachers and 4 academicians have been employed within the scope of “Basic Map Information and GIS Applications (TEHABIS)” supported by TUBITAK. In this study, the following questions were sought: (1) What is the knowledge level of teachers about basic map information and GIS applications? (2) How has the TEHABIS project affected the knowledge level of teachers about basic map information and GIS applications? (3) What are the challenges encountered during GIS training? Findings revealed that participants had deficiencies in basic map information before the project but increased motivation to learn advanced cartography issues at the end of activities. In addition, the participants stated that they would use the information they obtained from the project in relation to teaching, dissemination and quality of teaching.

© 2020 The Author(s)This study investigated the fast pyrolysis behaviour of torrefied olive stones, fractionated olive stones and lignocellulosic commercial compounds. Olive stones were reacted in a continuous industrial torrefaction unit. The olive stones were also fractionated into their main components in an organosolv reactor at temperatures from 170 to 190 °C in both the presence and absence of an acidic catalyst. All samples were reacted in a wire mesh reactor at different temperatures (800–1150 °C) a...
Advanced attitude determination algorithm for arase: Preliminary mission experience

Arase is a spin-stabilized and Sun-oriented spacecraft. Its mission is exploring how relativistic electrons in the radiation belts are generated during space storms. Two different on-ground attitude determination algorithms have been designed for the mission: a conventional straightforward algorithm that inherits from old missions ...
Unpredictable Solutions of Impulsive Quasi-Linear Systems
Akhmet, Marat; Tleubergenova, Madina; Nugayeva, Zakhira (2022-01-01)
© 2022. L&H Scientific Publishing, LLC. All Rights Reserved. The impulsive differential equations with unpredictable perturbations are under investigation. The definition of the discontinuous unpredictable function with the discrete unpredictable set of discontinuity moments is introduced. The existence and uniqueness of asymptotically stable discontinuous unpredictable solutions for quasi linear systems are proved. Examples with simulations are given to illustrate the results.

The analyses of such datasets are traditionally performed with statistical methods and usage of 2D graphics with x-y coordinates. However, these methods are disadvantageous compared to multi-dimensional information visualization, which can provide patterns of unprocessed data in a more descriptive and clear way. In order to provide support for visualiza...
