In this thesis, relationship between two most important transient stability indices, critical clearing time and generator rotor angle is examined for one machine-infinite bus system and then extended to the multimachine case and is observed to be linear. By using the linear relationship between critical clearing time and generator rotor angle and utilizing the daily load curve, a new preventive method is proposed. The aim of this method is to make all critical clearing times longer than the relay and circuit breaker combination operation time. In the proposed method, desired critical clearing times are obtained by using on line system data and daily load curves. Then desired values are adjusted by generators output rescheduling and terminals voltage control Visual computer language is used for graphical and numerical solutions. Comprehension of one machine infinite bus system and multimachine system transient stability become easier.

Series active filter design, control, and implementation with a novel load voltage harmonic extraction method
Şentürk, Osman Selçuk; Hava, Ahmet Masum; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
Series Active Filters (SAF) are designed for harmonic isolation and load voltage regulation of single-phase and three-phase voltage harmonic source type nonlinear loads. The novel Absolute Value Method (AVM) for load voltage harmonic extraction is proposed and applied in the control algorithm of SAF. The SAF compensated systems are represented by simplified linear models such that SAF controller gains can be easily determined. Harmonic isolation and load voltage regulation performances of 2.5 kW single-phas...

This study investigates Heterogeneous Double Seasonal ARIMA model, Heterogeneous Periodic AR model and a nonlinear model of Multiple Regime Logistic STAR model by application of hourly electricity load data between years 2006-2007 in Turkey. Forecast results suggest that Heterogeneous Double Seasonal ARIMA model is the best among three methods forecasting up to one day.
Real-Time Detection of Interharmonics and Harmonics of AC Electric Arc Furnaces on GPU Framework
Uz-Logoglu, Eda; Salor, Ozgul; Ermiş, Muammer (2017-10-05)
In this paper, a method based on the multiple synchronous reference frame (MSRF) analysis is recommended and implemented to detect time-varying harmonics and interharmonics of rapidly fluctuating asymmetrical industrial loads. The experimental work has been carried out on a typical three-phase alternating current arc furnace (AC EAF) installation. In the recommended method, the reference frame is rotated in both directions at speeds corresponding to the positive and negative sequences of all harmonics and a...

Optimizing transient and filtering performance of a C-type 2nd harmonic power filter by the use of solid-state switches
Gerçek, Cem Özgür; Ertaş, Arif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
In this research work, the performance of a C-type, 2nd harmonic power filter is optimized by the use of a thyristor switched damping resistor. In the design of conventional C-type, 2nd harmonic filters; the resistance of permanently connected damping resistor is to be optimized for minimization of voltage stresses on filter elements arising from switchings in transient state and for maximization of filtering effectiveness in the steady-state. Transformer inrush current during energization of power transfor...
