We experimentally demonstrate that two coupled metal nanostructures (MNSs), a silver nanowire and bipyramid, can produce similar to 30 times enhanced second harmonic generation compared to the particles alone. We develop a simple theoretical model, presenting the path interference effects in the nonlinear response of coupled MNSs. We show that the reason for such an enhancement can be the occurrence of a Fano resonance due to the coupling of the converter MNS to the long-lived mode of the attached MNS.
Enhanced Passivation Properties of a-Si:H and Reactive ITO Sputtering for SHJ Solar Cells
Donercark, Ergi; Guler, Secil; Çiftpınar, Emine Hande; Kabacelik, Ismail; Turan, Raşit (2020-01-01)
Enhancement of the conversion efficiency of silicon solar cells is crucial for the improvement of renewable electricity resources. The device properties such as minority carrier lifetime, series resistance, contact resistance and optical properties should be improved simultaneously to achieve higher photo conversion efficiencies. We use industry compatible processes flow to fabricate large-area silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells combined with reactive ITO sputtering. The passivation properties of a-Si...

Enhanced bioactivity and low temperature degradation resistance of yttria stabilized zirconia/clay composites for dental applications
Tufan, Yiğithan; Park, Jongee; Öztürk, Abdullah; Ercan, Batur (2022-12-01)
© 2022 Elsevier LtdYttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ)/clay composites were produced to improve osseointegration and undesired tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation (low temperature degradation, LTD) of YSZ ceramics so that long-term clinical success of YSZ implants is achieved. Various amounts (0.5,1,2, and 4 wt%) of clay was incorporated to YSZ. Predetermined amounts of clay and YSZ were mixed and pressed uniaxially at 15 MPa into compacts that were subsequently pressureless sintered at 1450 °C. Dens...
