Continuous progress on the synthesis of push-pull chromophores is related to their outstanding optoelectronic properties. Expanding scope is a challenge due to the instability of targets and long synthetic strategies. Herein, we report the synthesis of thirteen different triazene-substituted alkyne substrates using Sonogashira cross -coupling reactions. Although we have previously described successful syntheses of homoconjugated and pi-conjugated push-pull systems starting from triazene-substituted terminal alkynes, symmetric and unsymmetric bis-triazenes that we reported in this study unexpectedly did not undergo [2 + 2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclizations (CA-RE) with well-known electron acceptors, TCNE and TCNQ. With the use of diethylaniline-substituted substrates in CA-RE, this issue was successfully circumvented. Two different groups of NLOphores were synthesized in very high yields via [2 + 2] CA-RE with TCNE (95-99%) and TCNQ (92-99%). All target NLOphores were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, high-resolution mass spectrometry, theoretical studies, and EFISHG experiments. While different dialkyltriazene groups did not appear to have an important impact on ICT properties of the chromophores, modifications made in the electron withdrawing units significantly affected the ICT performance of the chromophores. Target push-pull-systems displayed lambda max values for their CT bands ranging between 454 and 692 nm. The ICT properties of the chromophores were confirmed by computational studies (Time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) studies, frontier orbital visualizations, electrostatic potential maps, and calculation of several parameters such as dipole moment, HOMO-LUMO gaps, electronegativity, global chemical hardness, and softness, average polar-izability, first hyperpolarizability) as well as experimental UV/Vis studies. As computational studies indicate that synthesized chromophores are potential NLOphores, experimental NLO measurements were performed by the EFISHG technique. Target structures exhibited large NLO responses (je beta values ranging 850 x 10-48 esu to 6050 x 10-48 esu).

Triphenylamine Based Random Copolymers: The Effect of Molecular Weight on Performance of Solar Cell and Optoelectronic Properties
Goker, SEZA; HACIOGLU, Serife O.; HIZALAN, Gonul; AKTAS, Ece; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2017-09-01)
Two low band gap triphenylamine based random copolymers are synthesized via Pd-catalyzed Stille polycondensation reaction to investigate the role of molecular weight on device performance and optoelectronic properties. H-1 NMR spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) are used for characterization of polymers. The polymerization conditions are optimized to achieve high molecular weight polymers with enhanced optoelectronic properties. PBTP1 rev...
Benzaldehyde lyase-catalyzed enantioselective carboligation of aromatic aldehydes with mono- and dimethoxy acetaldehyde
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Sesenoglu, O; Dunkelmann, P; Muller, M (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2003-06-12)
Benzaldehyde lyase from the Pseudomonas fluorescens catalyzes the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with methoxy and dimethoxy acetaldehyde and furnishes (R)-2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-1-arylpropan-1-one and (R)-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethoxy-1-arylpropan-1-one in high yields and enantiomeric excess via acyloin linkage. Aromatic aldehydes and benzoins are converted into enamine-carbanion-like intermediates prior to carboligation.
SYNTHESIS OF BLOCK COPOLYMERS VIA ANION-TO-RADICAL TRANSFORMATION
HAZER, B; CAKMAK, I; KUCUKYAVUZ, S; NUGAY, T (Elsevier BV, 1992-10-01)
Synthesis of (methyl methacrylate)-styrene block copolymers was carried out using anion-to-radical transformation. For this purpose, living polystyryl anion, prepared by using a new anionic difunctional initiator, 1,5-di(2-(3,3-dimethyl butyl-1-lithio)naphthalene, was terminated by the addition of 4,4'-bromomethyl dibenzoyl peroxide. Polystyrene samples having peroxide terminal groups were then used as initiators in the polymerization of methyl methacrylate. Block copolymers were characterized by spectrosco...
Synthesis of chiral diene systems via ring closing enyne metathesis and their applications in diels-alder reactions
Çayır, Merve; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2010)
The main subject of this thesis is synthesis of chiral diene systems via Ring Closing Enyne Metathesis (RCEM). Furan and thiophene carbaldehydes were chosen as starting compounds. As a result of allylation and propargylation reaction of these aldehydes targeting racemic heteroaryl substituted homoallylic and homopropargylic alcohols were synthesized. Enantiomerically enriched alcohols were obtained by enzymatic resolution method with different enzymes (PS-II, Lipozyme) with the high enantiomeric excess valu...

Optical and electrochemical properties of regiosymmetric and soluble alkylenedioxyselenophene-based electrochromic polymers, namely poly(3,3-dibutyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-seleno pheno [3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(4)), poly(3,3-dihexyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(6)), and poly(3,3-didecyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(10)), are highlighted. It is noted that these unique polymers have low bandgaps (1.57-1.65 eV), and they are exceptionally stable ...
