Two low band gap triphenylamine based random copolymers are synthesized via Pd-catalyzed Stille polycondensation reaction to investigate the role of molecular weight on device performance and optoelectronic properties. H-1 NMR spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) are used for characterization of polymers. The polymerization conditions are optimized to achieve high molecular weight polymers with enhanced optoelectronic properties. PBTP1 reveals broad absorption in the wavelength range of 300-670 nm whereas PBTP2 has absorption in the wavelength range of 300-660 nm. Highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels are calculated as -5.43 and -3.20 eV for PBTP1 and -5.33 and -3.02 eV for PBTP2. The photovoltaic device containing donor PBTP1 and acceptor PCBM[70] in 1: 3 weight ratio reveals the highest power conversion efficiency of 2.27%, with V-oc of 0.63 V, J(sc) of 8.19 mA cm(-2), and fill factor of 44% under illumination of AM 1.5 G, 100 mW cm(-2). Organic photovoltaics (OPV) cells fabricated with PBTP2 demonstrate improved photo-voltaic results due to higher molecular weight and enhanced optoelectronic properties. Photon-to-current efficiency of 3.65% with a current density of 14.73 mA cm(-2), Voc of 0.69 V, and fill factor of 36% are obtained.

Alkyl-end phenanthroimidazole modification of benzotriazole based conjugated polymers for optoelectronic applications

A new triazoloquinoxaline and benzodithiophene based copolymer was synthesized to investigate its electrochemical, optical and photovoltaic behaviors. According to the polymer design, combination of two acceptor units (benzotriazole and quinoxaline) which contribute imine bonds to the structure and a triazoloquinoxaline unit for enhancing electron accepting ability was pursued. As a result of electrochemical studies, the copolymer PTQBDT has a low lying HOMO energy level as −5.23 eV which increases the chem...
Comonomer effects on binding performances and morphology of acrylate-based imprinted polymers
Tunc, Yeliz; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Yesilada, Akgul; Ulubayram, Kezban (2006-09-20)
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different functional groups of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) on the binding characteristics towards a specific template molecule by examining selectivity and recognition processes. Several non-covalent theophylline imprinted polymers (TIPs) were prepared by using only methacrylic acid (MAA), or MAA and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) comonomer, or MAA and acrylamide (ACM) comonomer. In all cases, a high amount of ethylene glycol dimetha...
lntrazeolite Metal Carbonyl Kinetics: 12CO Substitution in Mo(12C0)6-Na56Y by PMe3 and 13CO
OZIN, GA; Özkar, Saim; PASTORE, HO; POE, AJ; VICHI, EJS (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 1991-02-01)
The first kinetic study is reported for archetypical substitution reactions of PMe3 and 13CO with the well defined intrazeolite system, Mo(12CO)6-Na56Y, for which excellent isosbestic points and first order behaviour are obtained, the activation parameters indicate a highly ordered 'supramolecular' transition state consisting of activated Mo(12CO)6 and PMe3 or 13CO all anchored to the Na+ ions in the alpha-cage of the host lattice.
Amino acid substitutions in the subunit interface enhancing thermostability of Thermoplasma acidophilum citrate synthase
Erduran, I; Kocabıyık, Semra (Elsevier BV, 1998-08-19)
We have used citrate synthase from Thermoplasma (Tp.) acidophilum as a thermostable model system to investigate the role of hydrophobic interactions in dimer interface for maintaining high temperature stability. Three mutant enzymes were constructed by single amino acid substitutions in the interface helices: Ala97 --> Ser, Ala104 --> Thr, and Gly209 --> Ala. All of the mutations enhanced the thermostability of Tp. citrate synthase, while improving its catalytic properties (K-m, V-max, and specific activity...
Vitamin E Decreases the Order of the Phospholipid Model Membranes in the Gel Phase: An FTIR Study
Severcan, Feride (Portland Press Ltd., 1997-4-1)
The effect of α-tocopherol on the frequency of the CH2 stretching bands of infrared spectra of dipalmitoylphosphotidylcholine multibilayers has been investigated, both in H2O and 2H2O buffer, to determine the reason for the discrepancy in the literature between the results of different spectroscopic techniques relating to the effect of α-tocopherol on membrane order in the gel phase. In contrast to previous FTIR studies, the present FTIR results indicate that αT increases the frequencies of the CH2 stretchi...
