In this letter, a software for calibration factor (CF) measurement of radio frequency (RF) power sensors (PS) by using VNA-based direct comparison transfer method (VBDCTM) was developed on C# platform. Measurements were performed between 10 MHz and 18 GHz frequency range. When the calibration factors calculated with conventional CF measurement method and novel software were compared, a maximum difference of 4.56% was found in the 10 MHz - 18 GHz frequency band. Therefore, the automatic CF measurement software based on VBDCTM, which has less complexity, can be preferred to conventional method for measuring the calibration factor of power sensors.

A CMOS High Frequency Pulse Width Modulation Integrated Circuit
Sahin, Osman Ulas; Kocer, Fatih (2016-08-05)
In this work, a high frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) integrated circuit (IC) designed and implemented in a commercial 0.35 mu m CMOS process is presented. Based on natural sampling method, the proposed PWM IC can generate both a PWM signal and its inverse for arbitrary frequencies up to 5 MHz. The PWM frequency can he adjusted via an external clock and an off-chip capacitor. The duty cycle of the PWM signal can be linearly varied from 5% to 95% by changing the input signal. Thanks to its analog trian...
A novel approach for synthesising sinus waveforms at power level
Şedele, Serkan Paki; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
In variable speed motor drive and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications, taditional method is to employ some kind of a modulation technique at a high frequency typically 6 kHz to 20 kHz range. In these modulation techniques, the switches are hard switched. The result is application of a series of pulses to the load, and if the load is inductive, sine wave current flows into the load. Hard and rapid switching causes a voltage waveform with a very high dv/dt (rate of change in voltage) causing high ...
A Basic Power Electronic Laboratory Experiment Allowing Comprehensive and Structured Learning: Multi-Phase Capacitive Loaded Full-Bridge Rectifier
Oztoprak, Oguzhan; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2018-08-30)
This paper provides a compact and fundamental level power electronics laboratory experiment about capacitive loaded three single-phase full-bridge diode rectifiers. While the procedure of the experiment is simple, the experiment provides wide range of opportunities for comprehensive learning on the important aspects of power electronics. The nonlinear circuit behavior of the rectifier and performance characterization are demonstrated as the conventional experiments. Moreover, the influence of the power sour...
Development of X-Band Transceiver MMIC's Using GaN Technology
Memioglu, Onur; Kazan, Oguz; Turan, Isinsu; Karakuzulu, Alper; Gundel, Adnan; Kocer, Fatih; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2019-01-01)
This paper describes X-Band power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA) and switches that can be used in transmit/ receive modules which are developed with GaN technology. For Transmit chain two 25 W high power amplifiers that are tuned between 8-10 GHz and 10-12 GHz bands are designed. A low noise amplifier with 2 W survivability and less than 2dB noise figure is designed for receive chain. Furthermore, an RF switch that is capable of withstanding 25 W RF power is developed for the selection of transmi...
A Kalman Filter Based Approach for Light Flicker Evaluation of Power Systems
Kose, Neslihan; Salor, Ozgul; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2009-01-01)
In this paper, a Kalman filtering based approach is proposed to measure the light flicker of the electricity transmission systems. Analytical expressions of the instantaneous light flicker sensation are obtained beginning from a voltage waveform and these expressions are used to obtain a flicker estimation method based on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) flickermeter. In the proposed method, the frequency domain components of the waveform are obtained by Kalman filtering and these compone...
