Induction Motors with Changeable Pole Windings in the Ratio 1:4
Cistelecan, Mihail V.; Melcescu, Leonard M.; Cosan, H. Bark; Popescu, Mihail (2011-09-10)
The paper presents a new three phase 4 to 16 pole changing winding for an induction motor with 36 stator slots and 6 terminals. The principle of design is explained and the space harmonics are calculated for both of polarities. In order to obtain a higher fundamental winding factor and lower space harmonic content for 16-pole winding, a degree of non-uniformity was accepted for the slot filling factor. The winding is developed partially in single layer and partially in double layers and contains two types o...
Series Active Filter Based Resonance Damping of High Power Three-phase, LCL Filtered, Grid Connected Voltage Source Inverters
Usluer, S. Nadir; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2014-06-04)
A series active filter (SAF) based method for the damping of resonant harmonics created by the LCL-filter of the grid connected PWM-VSI is proposed. Oscillations in multi-megawatt rated high power inverters with LCL-filters are damped with resistors which create undesired power losses typically up to 1% of the rated power of the system. The method stated in this paper overcomes the stability/oscillation problem while providing a solution to the resistive power loss. The proposed SAF compensated system perfo...
Thermal imaging based on mechanical vibrations
Yılmaz, Şener; Azgın, Kıvanç; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8-19)
The thesis proposes a digital, resonance readout method based on a lock-in based digital phase locked loop (DPLL) mechanism, which is designed, simulated, implemented and tested using a Xilinx made Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Implementation is performed using a hardware descriptive language (VHDL) on low level. Certain digital signal processing algorithms such as lock-in detection, DPLL, DDS and CORDIC are implemented, simulated and tested. Moreover, the design is shown to be capable of resonating...
Passive damping and seismic isolation steel devices with displacement-dependent hardening
Dicleli, Murat (null; 2018-02-02)
In this paper, a summary of analytical and experimental studies into the behaviour of a new hysteretic damper and a seismic isolator designed for seismic protection of structures is presented. The Multi-directional Torsional Hysteretic Damper (MRSD) and its isolator version MARTI (Multi-Directional Adaptive Torsional Isolator) are patented inventions in which a symmetrical arrangement of identical cylindrical steel cores is so configured as to yield in torsion while the structure experiences planar movement...
