Numerical simulation of saltwater intrusion in a groundwater basin
EMEKLI, NUSRET; Karahanoğlu, Nurkan; Yazıcıgil, Hasan; DOYURAN, VEDAT (1996-07-01)
The spatial and transient behavior of the coupled mechanism of saltwater and freshwater how throughout the Erzin, Turkey, groundwater basin was analyzed to forecast the position of the interface under a particular set of recharge and discharge conditions. The density-driven saltwater intrusion process was simulated with the use of a finite-element model. Physical parameters, initial heads, and boundary conditions of the basin were defined on the basis of available field data, and an areal, steady-state grou...
Development of gluten-free wafer sheet formulations
MERT, Selen; Şahin, Serpil; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm (2015-10-01)
The main objective of this study was to develop gluten-free wafer sheet formulations by replacing rice flour partially with different gluten-free flours at different ratios. Rice-corn flour blends, rice-buckwheat flour blends and rice-chestnut flour blends with different ratios (80:20, 60:40, 40:60) were used in the experiments in order to find the higher quality and more nutritional gluten-free wafer sheet formulations. As a control, wafer sheet samples containing only rice flour and only wheat flour were ...
Development of a high-fideliity transient aerothermal model for a helicopter turboshaft engine for inlet distortion and engine deterioration simulations
Novikov, Yaroslav; Uzol, Oğuz; Kutay, Ali Türker; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2012)
Presented in this thesis is the development of a high-fidelity aerothermal model for GE T700 turboshaft engine. The model was constructed using thermodynamic relations governing change of flow properties across engine components, and by applying real component maps for the compressor and turbines as well as empirical relations for specific heats. Included in the model were bleed flows, turbine cooling and heat sink effects. Transient dynamics were modeled using inter-component volumes method in which mass i...
Simulator of an additive and subtractive type of hybrid manufacturing system
Dilberoğlu, Mecid Uğur; Yaman, Ulaş; Dölen, Melik (2019-06-24)
Additive Manufacturing (AM) facilitates the production of intricate objects despite its weakness in attainable part quality and fabrication speed compared to the conventional manufacturing methods. To alleviate the problems arising as a natural outcome of AM methods, hybrid technologies become viable options by employing concurrent manufacturing procedures, e.g. synergetic additive and subtractive manufacturing (SM) actions. Hybrid workstations have recently opened up new dimensions to 3D-printing industry,...
Formulation of Chestnut Cookies and their Rheological and Quality Characteristics
Demirkesen, Ilkem (2016-08-01)
The influences of chestnut flour at different levels (0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100%) on the rheological properties of rice dough formulations and the quality parameters of gluten-free cookies were evaluated. Elevated flour replacement levels led to increases in extensional viscosity values reflecting higher force requirement to deform dough samples. Similarly, replacement of rice flour with chestnut flour led to higher complex moduli values. Cookie samples prepared by replacement of 40% rice flour with chestnu...
