Effect of particle size on early heat evolution of interground natural pozzolan blended cements
Ardoğa, Mehmet Kemal; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan; Tokyay, Mustafa (2019-05-10)
Natural pozzolans are increasingly being used in blended cements due to their compositional uniformity and local abundance in some countries. They influence hydration, both at early and late ages. A control portland cement and three interground cements containing natural pozzolan were produced using a laboratory ball mill and sieved through 10-mu m, 35-mu m and 50-mu m sieves to yield different cement size subgroups. The heat evolution of each subgroup was investigated up to 2 days using isothermal calorime...

Effect of grain size and porosity on phonon scattering enhancement of Ca3Co4O9
Gunes, Murat; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit (2015-03-25)
Ca3Co4O9 (C-349) samples with average grain sizes ranging from 18 nm to 2 mu m were synthesized using the citrate sol-gel method. PEG 400 was used to vary the particle size and porosity, and the thermoelectric (TE) properties were examined from 300 to 1000 K. Nanostructuring and porosity do not appear to significantly affect the Seebeck coefficient; however, a considerable increase in the resistivity over the entire temperature range was observed, leading to lower power factors for the nano-sized samples. T...
Effect of solidification rate on microstructure and primary carbides of AISI DC 53 cold work tool steel
Cardakh, Ismail Seckin; Kalkanlı, Ali (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-05-01)
The solidification behavior of AISI DC 53 cold work tool steel was investigated by means of a cooling curve and its first derivative. Copper and sand wedge-shaped molds were used to obtain various solidification rates. To reveal the cooling rate degree during solidification, the secondary dendrite arm spacing of the steel alloy was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The solidification rates of each section for both wedge steel samples were calculated by means of the secondary dendrite arm spaci...
