STEAM-CO-2 FLOODING - AN EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY
GUMRAH, F; OKANDAN, E (1992-01-01)
Research on the use of the combined steam-CO2 injection process was conducted in linear and three-dimensional unscaled laboratory models to determine the performance of limestone reservoirs of the Turkish oil fields, Garzan, Bati Raman and Camurlu. This study was carried out to evaluate the benefits Of CO2 addition to steam on the recovery of 24-degrees-API, 12-degrees-API and 10.6-degrees-API gravity oils.
Steam reforming of ethanol for hydrogen production using Cu-MCM41 and Ni-MCM41 type mesoporous catalytic materials
Özdoğan, Ekin; Doğu, Timur; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
The world’s being alerted to the global warming danger and the depletion of fossil fuel resources, has increased the importance of the clean and renewable hydrogen energy. Bioethanol has high potential to be used as a resource of hydrogen since it is a non-petroleum feedstock and it is able to produce hydrogen rich mixture by steam reforming reactions. Discovery of mesoporous MCM-41 type high surface area silicate-structured materials with narrow pore size distributions (20-100 Å) and high surface areas (up...
Steam Reforming of ethanol over sol-gel-synthesized mixed oxide catalysts
Olcay, Hakan Önder; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
Depletion in the reserves of fossil fuels, inefficient energy production from these fuels and the negative effect of their usage on atmosphere, and thereby, on human health have accelerated researches on clean energy. Hydrogen produced from ethanol when used in fuel cells not only generates efficient energy but also creates a closed carbon cycle in nature. ZnO and Cu/ZnO catalysts are known with their superior performance in alcohol synthesis. From the principle of microkinetic reversibility they are expect...

Thermal loading and unloading of a solid cylinder subjected to periodic internal energy cycling
Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim (2017-03-01)
An analytical model is developed to estimate partially plastic loading and unloading behavior of a transient internal energy cycling solid cylinder. The cylinder is initially at zero temperature, but for times greater than zero, heat is generated or consumed internally at a time dependent rate. The transient temperature distribution in the cylinder is obtained by using Duhamel's theorem. As the cylinder is heated or cooled slowly the uncoupled theory of thermal stress is used. Under these circumstances elas...
