Development of K band microstrip patch antenna array for traffic radars
Aydemir, Aslı Eda; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2017)
In this thesis work, two microstrip patch antenna arrays are designed for the traffic radar applications. Both of them operate at the 24.125 GHz with 250 MHz bandwidth. Two different series feed networks are used, namely shunt connected series feed network and in line coupled series feed network. The one with shunt connected series feed network is manufactured and measured to make comparisons with the simulation results. It is observed that simulation and measurement results are very similar. 7 degree beamw...
Comparison and evaluation of various MESFET models
Altay, Mirkan; Toker, Canan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
There exist various models for Microwave MESFET equivalent circuit representations. These models use different mathematical models to describe the same MESFET and give similar results. However, there are some differences in the results when compared to the experimental measurements. In this thesis, various theoretical models are applied to the same MESFET and comparison made with measured data. It is shown that some models worked better on some parameters of the MESFET, while the others were more effective ...
Dual polarized slotted waveguide array antenna
Doğan, Doğanay; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
An X band dual polarized slotted waveguide antenna array is designed with very high polarization purity for both horizontal and vertical polarizations. Horizontally polarized radiators are designed using a novel non-inclined edge wall slots whereas the vertically polarized slots are implemented using broad wall slots opened on baffled single ridge rectangular waveguides. Electromagnetic model based on an infinite array unit cell approach is introduced to characterize the slots used in the array. 20 by 10 el...
Intelligent methods for dynamic analysis and navigation of autonomous land vehicles
Kaygısız, Hüseyin Burak; Erkmen, Aydan Müşerref; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
Autonomous land vehicles (ALVs) have received considerable attention after their introduction into military and commercial applications. ALVs still stand as a challenging research topic. One of the main problems arising in ALV operations is the navigation accuracy while the other is the dynamic effects of road irregularities which may prevent the vehicle and its cargo to function properly. In this thesis, we propose intelligent solutions to these two basic problems of ALV. First, an intelligent method is pr...
Implementation of a risc microcontroller using fpga
Gümüş, Raşit; Güran, Hasan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis a microcontroller core is developed in an FPGA. Its instruction set is compatible with the microcontroller PIC16XX series by Microchip Technology. The microcontroller employs a RISC architecture with separate busses for instructions and data. Our goal in this research is to implement and evaluate the design in the FPGA. Increasing performance and gate capacity of recent FPGA devices permits complex logic systems to be implemented on a single programmable device. Such a growing complexity dema...
