We construct an n-dimensional Born-Infeld-type gravity theory that has the same properties as Einstein's gravity in terms of the vacuum and particle content: Namely, the theory has a unique viable vacuum (maximally symmetric solution) and a single massless unitary spin-2 graviton about this vacuum. We present the shock-free wave propagation requirements for massless fields. Conformal black hole solutions of axidilaton gravity in D dimensions

Static, spherically symmetric solutions of axidilaton gravity in D dimensions are given in the Brans-Dicke frame for arbitrary values of the Brans-Dicke constant omega and an axion-dilaton coupling parameter k. The mass and the dilaton and axion charges are determined and a BPS bound is derived. There exists a one-parameter family of black hole solutions in the scale-invariant limit.
