Synthesis and mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester based nanocomposites
Inceoglu, AB; Yılmazer, Ülkü (2003-03-01)
Two classes of nanocomposites were synthesized using an unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix and sodium montmorillonite as well as an organically modified montmorillonite as the reinforcing agents. X-ray diffraction pattern of the composites showed that the interlayer spacing of the modified montmorillonite expanded from 1.25 nm. to 4.5 nm, indicating intercalation. Glass transition values of these composites increased from 72degreesC, in the unfilled unsaturated polyester, to 86degreesC in the composi...
Synthesis and Optoelectronic Properties of Iptycene-Naphthazarin Dyes
Dengiz, Çağatay; SWAGER, Timothy M. (2019-01-01)
We report the synthesis and characterization of iptycene-naphthazarin dyes by using a sequential Diels-Alder approach. The tautomerization of naphthazarin was used as the key step in the synthesis, with structures confirmed by single-crystal X-ray and NMR analysis. The systematic trends in electronic properties were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy BF2 complexes of the dyes were prepared by reaction with BF3 OEt2 in CH2Cl2.

Synthesis and Optoelectronic Properties of Janus-Dendrimer-Type Multivalent Donor Acceptor Systems
Dengiz, Çağatay; GISSELBRECHT, Jean-Paul; BOUDON, Corinne; TRAPP, Nils; SCHWEIZER, W. Bernd; DIEDERICH, Francois (2015-01-16)
A convergent, multistep protocol was employed for the synthesis of a Janus-type multivalent donoracceptor system. The synthetic approach is based on a Sonogashira cross-coupling of two differently ferrocene-(Fc) substituted dendrons and a final sixfold [2 + 2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization (CA-RE) reaction with tetracyanoethene, which occurs regioselectively at only one of the rigidly linked dendrons. The structural and optoelectronic properties of the compounds were investigated by X-ray analysis, ...
Synthesis and luminescence properties of tetraphenylethene-based small molecules used in organic light emitting diodes
Odabaş, Serhat; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2014)
Organic light emitting diodes (OLED) is an exciting new technology that attracted much attention to scientist for emissive technology. The basic OLED structure consists of a stack of fluorescent organic layers sandwiched between a transparent conducting anode and metallic cathode. The important problems in luminescence is that, molecules aggregate in solid state that leads formation of excimers which results in emission quenching so that most of the luminescent materials show weak emissions in their solid f...
