Characterization of electrolyte and pyrotechnic powders and pellets
Kalender, Volkan; Özbelge, H. Önder; Department of Chemical Engineering (2011)
Electrolyte and pyrotechnic pellets are two important components of thermal batteries. Both electrolyte and pyrotechnic pellets are produced by cold compaction of constituent powders. These compacts are integrated in the battery as pellets with sufficient green density, green strength, calorific energy and burning rate (for pyrotechnic only) to provide high performance batteries. In this study, effects of physical properties of the used powders such as particle size distribution, average particle size, part...
Characterization of micronsized poly (Ethylene terephthalate)filled high density polyethylene composites

Characterization of serpentine filled polypropylene
Can, Semra; Tinçer, Teoman; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2008)
In this study, the aim is to prepare polypropylene (PP)/serpentine composites and study their mechanical, thermal and morphological properties. Another objective is to explore whether it is possible to have PP/serpentine nanocomposites with melt intercalation method by using the advantage of the layer silicate structure of serpentine. The most widely used fillers in PP are talc and mica which belong to the phyllosilicates group of silicate minerals. So far, there has been almost no study employing serpentin...

Characterization of magnetite thin films produced by sol-gel processing
Eken, Ali Erdem; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
Magnetite (Fe3O4) thin films were prepared by a sol-gel process in which, a solution of iron (III) nitrate dissolved in ethylene glycol was applied on glass substrates by spin coating. Xerogel films were obtained by drying the coated films at 110 °C. The films were sintered between 300 °C and 450 °C in order to observe the phases existing in the films at different temperatures. Coating solution showed Newtonian behaviour and viscosity was found as 0.0215 Pa.s. DTA analysis showed that, sintering temperature...
