Technology development in Turkish automotive industry: a case of middle technology trap
Bürken, Serkan; Akçomak, İbrahim Semih; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2014)
This dissertation questions the dynamics of leapfrogging by focusing on technology developmentin the Turkish Automotive Industry. We abstract from the research questions whether automotive firms in Turkey are investing in more sophisticated R&D projects that have potential to generate higher value-added and whether this process has led to a catch-up or leapfrogging. In order to investigate thesequestionsthis dissertation uses a mixed approach involving both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. In the...
Impact assessment of vision 2023 technology foresight in defense sector
Burhan, Mukaddes; Çakır, Serhat; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2018)
This thesis was conducted in the scope of impact analysis of technology foresight intervention which was conducted to influence policies and decisions to benefit from sience and technology to create a knowledge society and innovative economy. The first objective is to assess the long-term ex-post impact of Vision 2023 technology foresight in defense sector. The second objective is the development of a model to assess the impact. An impact assessment scale was developed by implementing program-based theory a...
Broadband THz Modulators Based on Multilayer Graphene on PVC
KAYA, Emine; Kakenov, Nurbek; Kocabas, Coskun; Altan, Hakan; Esentürk, Okan (2016-09-30)
In this study we present the direct terahertz timedomain spectroscopic measurement of CVD-grown multilayer graphene (MLG) on PVC substrate with an electrically tunable Fermi level. In a configuration consisting MLG and injected organic dopant, the transmitted intensity loss of terahertz radiation was observed with an applied voltage between 0 and 3.5 V.We showed that MLG on PVC devices provided approximately 100 % modulation between 0.2 and 1.5 THz at preferentially low operation voltage of ca. 3V. The obse...
Quantum emitter interacting with graphene coating in the strong-coupling regime
Gunay, Mehmet; Karanikolas, Vasilios; ŞAHİN, RAMAZAN; Ovali, Rasim Volga; Bek, Alpan; TAŞGIN, MEHMET EMRE (2020-04-14)
We demonstrate the strong coupling of a quantum dot and a graphene spherical shell coating it. Our simulations are based on solutions of three-dimensional Maxwell equations, using a boundary element method approach. Interaction between the nanostructures produces sharp hybrid modes, even when the two are off-resonant. The coupling of the light to these "very sharp" plexcitonic resonances is an order of magnitude larger than its coupling to a quantum dot, and they are voltage tunable (continuously) in an 80-...
Mediated Effects of Technology Competencies and Experiences on Relations among Attitudes Towards Technology Use, Technology Ownership, and Self Efficacy about Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge
Yerdelen-Damar, Sevda; Boz, Yezdan; Aydin-Gunbatar, Sevgi (2017-08-01)
This study examined the relations of preservice science teachers' attitudes towards technology use, technology ownership, technology competencies, and experiences to their self-efficacy beliefs about technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK). The present study also investigated interrelations among preservice teachers' attitudes towards technology use, technology ownership, technology competencies, and experiences. The participants of study were 665 elementary preservice science teachers (467 fema...
