This study aimed at training EFL students on listening strategies through a 7- week training program. 38 beginner students at Department of Basic English at Middle East Technical University participated in this research study. The data were collected through 5 instruments, namely pre-test, post-test, two questionnaires, and think aloud protocols. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected via these instruments. The comparison of the gain scores of the experimental and control group showed that the experimental group's gain score was significantly higher than the control group's. The qualitative results indicated that the training on listening strategies proved to be useful for the subjects in the experimental group.
