Design of a multi-frequency underwater transducer using cylindrical piezoelectric elements
Yavuz, Şiar Deniz; İder, Kemal S.; Köymen, Hayrettin; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
In this thesis, numerical and experimental design of a multi-frequency underwater acoustic transducer with cylindrical piezoelectric ceramic tubes is studied. In the numerical design, the acoustic, mechanical and thermal performances of the transducer are investigated by means of finite element method (FEM) in ANSYS. The design of the transducer that meets the acoustic requirements is checked in terms of the mechanical and thermal performances. After the completion of the numerical design, the transducer is...
Qualification of Large Testing Facilities in Earthquake Engineering Research
Kurç, Özgür; Sucuoğlu, Haluk (2010-09-03)
The qualification of large testing facilities serving in earthquake engineering research and the management of the instrumentation are the central issues of this paper. The main aspects of instrumentation management and seismic test methods are presented, commented upon and critically assessed based on both the answers to a questionnaire and the outcomes of the SERIES Workshop about the Qualification of Facilities held in Ohrid, MK. On the basis of the results presented herein and the proposals and comments...
Coherent J/psi photoproduction in ultra-peripheral PbPb collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV with the CMS experiment
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2017-09-01)
The cross section for coherent photoproduction accompanied by at least one neutron on one side of the interaction point and no neutron activity on the other side, , is measured with the CMS experiment in ultra-peripheral PbPb collisions at . The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 159, collected during the 2011 PbPb run. The mesons are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel, while neutrons are detected using zero degree calorimeters. The measured cross section ...
Nonlinear modeling of piezoelectric stack actuators with flexure based displacement amplifier mechanisms
Yurdakul, Ozan; Özer, Mehmet Bülent; Yıldız, Erdinç Nuri; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8-26)
In this thesis, modeling methods for piezoelectric stack actuators (PSA) are studied. Both linear and nonlinear modeling methodologies are provided. FEM which is derived from constitutive piezoelectric equations is implemented to model linear behavior of piezoelectricity. Validation of the FEM model is performed through experiments. It is observed that modeling and test results are matched with high quality. Rhombus type amplifier mechanism (RTAM) is selected for this study after conducting a detailed liter...
