Fabrication of A Sandwich Type Three Axis Capacitive MEMS Accelerometer
Tez, Serdar; Akın, Tayfun (2013-11-06)
This paper presents a three axis capacitive MEMS accelerometer including individual lateral and vertical accelerometers in a same die. The three axis capacitive MEMS accelerometer is fabricated by utilizing a glass-silicon-glass multi-stack formed by a fabrication process depending on the double glass modified silicon on glass process (DGM-SOG), where the structural layer is selected to be 35 mu m thick silicon. The fabrication process uses the Au-Si eutectic bonding in the last step of the formation of th...
Design optimization in hypersonic flows
Eyi, Sinan (2012-12-01)
The objective of this study is to develop a reliable and efficient design tool that can be used in hypersonic flows. The flow analysis is based on axisymmetric Euler and the finite rate chemical reaction equations. These coupled equations are solved by using Newton's method. The analytical method is used to calculate Jacobian matrices. Sensitivities are evaluated by using the adjoint method. The performance of the optimization method is demonstrated in hypersonic flow. © 2012 by the American Institute of Ae...
Techno-economic optimization of induction machines: an industrial application
Samarkanov, Dmitry; Gillon, Frederic; Brochet, Pascal; Laloy, Daniel (2011-09-10)
Current economic situation force manufacturers to find the new ways of designing electrical machines. In order to succeed in competitive market, industry has to create new approaches of finding the solutions which will satisfy customer's requirements. Task of determining this set of optimal configurations must be done in the least possible time frame. This problem is becoming more complex when the required electrical machine is not in the standard range of configurations and so the price of the solution can...

Sensitive Metamaterial Sensor for Distinction of Authentic and Inauthentic Fuel Samples
Tumkaya, Mehmet Ali; Dincer, Furkan; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; Sabah, Cumali (2017-08-01)
A metamaterial-based sensor has been realized to distinguish authentic and inauthentic fuel samples in the microwave frequency regime. Unlike the many studies in literature on metamaterial-based sensor applications, this study focuses on a compact metamaterial-based sensor operating in the X-band frequency range. Firstly, electromagnetic properties of authentic and inauthentic fuel samples were obtained experimentally in a laboratory environment. Secondly, these experimental results were used to design and ...
