An experimental study has been conducted in order to determine the effects of processing parameters on the humidity sensing characteristics of ceramic sensors produced from magnesium aluminate. MgAİ2Û4 powders were synthesized by the mixed oxide technique and by the citrate route in the laboratory. In some experiments, the powders were doped with Na+, Mn2+, or Ti4+ ions in order to modify the sintering and the response behavior of the spinel ceramics. The variations in electrical impedance were determined at room temperature under relative humidity (RH) values ranging from 21 to 98 percent. The effect of the powder preparation technique, sintering conditions, and introduction of additives on the microstructure and humidity sensitivity of MgAb04 were investigated. The results of the study revealed that the humidity sensing characteristics of porous magnesium aluminate were strongly depended on microstructure which was controlled by the parameters discussed above.

A low-power robust humidity sensor in a standard CMOS process
Okcan, Burak; Akın, Tayfun (2007-11-01)
This paper presents a low-cost thermal-conductivity-based humidity sensor implemented using a 0.6-mu m CMOS process, where suspended p-n junction diodes are used as the humidity-sensitive elements. The measurement method uses the difference between the thermal conductivities of air and water vapor at high temperatures by comparing the output voltages of two hea ted and thermally isolated diodes; one of which is exposed to the environment and has a humidity-dependent thermal conductance, while the other is s...
Effect of bentonite composition on the HP, HT rheological properties of water-based drilling fluids
Kuru, E; Demirci, S; Ozturk, MY (1998-12-01)
In this study, effects of six bentonites on the viscosity and filtration loss characteristics of water-based drilling fluids have been investigated. Rheological properties of the drilling fluids prepared by API standards were determined by using high temperature (0-100 degrees C) rotational viscometer. The filtration losses of these drilling fluids were measured using high temperature (0-232 degrees C) and high pressure (0-2000 psi) filtration loss measurement equipment.
Effect of Boron Phosphate on the Mechanical, Thermal and Fire Retardant Properties of Polypropylene and Polyamide-6 Fibers
DOĞAN, Mehmet; Bayramlı, Erdal (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-10-01)
The effect of boron phosphate (BPO4) nanoparticles on the mechanical, thermal, and flame retardant properties of polypropylene (PP) and polyamide 6 (PA-6) fibers are investigated by tensile testing, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and micro combustion calorimeter (MCC). The addition of BPO4 reduces the mechanical properties of the both PP and PA-6 fibers. According to the TGA results, the addition of BPO4 does not change the thermal behavior of PP fiber and slightl...
Significance of particle concentration distribution on radiative heat transfer in circulating fluidized bed combustors
Ates, CİHAN; Selçuk, Nevin; Külah, Görkem (2018-02-01)
In this study, effect of particle concentration distribution on radiative heat transfer in circulating fluidized bed combustors (CFBCs) is investigated. The aim is to identify how important it is to include axial and radial variations of particle concentration along the splash and dilute zones in radiative heat transfer calculations and to determine the predictive accuracy of simple OD and 1D approximations for particle concentration distribution in the riser by benchmarking their predictions against a semi...
Effect of carbon nanotube surface treatment on the morphology, electrical, and mechanical properties of the microfiber-reinforced polyethylene/poly(ethylene terephthalate)/carbon nanotube composites
Yesil, Sertan; Bayram, Göknur (2013-01-15)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of carbon nanotube (CNT) chemical properties, CNT content, and molding temperature on the morphology, electrical, and mechanical properties of the microfiber-reinforced polymer composites. These composites were prepared by extrusion and hot stretching the poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/CNT phase in high density polyethylene (HDPE) matrix. Surfaces of the CNT were modified by purification with strong acid mixture (HNO3 : H2SO4 mixture 1 : 1 by volume) f...
