Recently, considerable interest has been devoted to the synthesis of new ferrocene derivatives since properly functionalized ferrocene derivatives could be potential antitumor substances. For this purpose, we have investigated the synthesis of ferrocenyl quinones starting from squaric acid. Thermolysis of ferrocenylsubstituted cyclobutenones, which have been prepared from ferrocenyl cyclobutenediones and alkenyllithiums, affords hydroquinones, which furnish, upon oxidation, ferrocenyl quinones. Ferrocenyl cyclobutenediones have been prepared from known cyclobutenediones by nucleophilic addition of ferrocenyllithiumfollowed by hydrolysis, Pd/Cu-cocatalyzed cross-coupling with (tri-n-butylstannyl)ferrocene or FriedelاCrafts alkylation with ferrocene. A mechanism involving electrocyclic ring opening of alkenyl substituted cyclobutenone to dienylketene and consequent electrocyclic ring closure to cyclohexadienone followed by enolization has been proposed to account for the formation of ferocenyl substituted hydroquinones. Rocket design and production is one of the hottest topics in defense industry. On this subject, significant amount of investments have been done and excellent results were obtained. Among the burning rate catalysts for composite rocket propellants, ferrocene derivatives are one of the most famous ones. Although ferrocene derivatives are superior to some other burning rate catalysts, their use has some drawbacks arising from the tendency of migration in the bulk of the material and their sensitivity toward oxidation by air. With the aim of preventing the negative aspects of ferrocene derivatives, we have investigated the synthesis of EDA (ethylenediamine), TEP (tetraethylenepentamine) and DDI (dimeryl-diisocyanate) based ferrocene derivatives.

1,3,3a,7a-Tetrahydro-2-benzofuran was used as key compound for the synthesis of various bishomoinositol derivatives. The diene was subjected to an epoxidation reaction for further functionalization of the diene unit. The bisepoxide obtained was submitted to a ring-opening reaction with acid in the presence of water. Various bishomoinositols were synthesized. However, when the reaction was carried out in the presence of acetic anhydride, a substituted 3-oxabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane skeleton was formed. The mechan...

SYNTHESIS OF MACROMOLECULAR CATALYST SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS Oğuzkaya, Funda PhD., Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Cihangir Tanyeli September 2011, 144 pages The thesis mainly proposed to design macromolecular catalyst systems. Such catalysts should follow the way of "Green Chemistry" with including no metallic ions and have also the ability of reusability. Hence, nitroxide chemistry was chosen as the key point. Catalysts were synthesized with surely including TEMPO as the functional part as ...
Enantioselective direct aldol reactions promoted by phosphine oxide aziridinyl phosphonate organocatalysts
Doğan, Özdemir (2015-12-15)
A series of phosphine oxide based chiral Lewis bases were screened as organocatalysts for silicon tetrachloride mediated direct asymmetric aldol reactions between cyclohexanone and various aromatic aldehydes. One of the phosphine oxide-aziridinyl phosphonate POAP-A Lewis bases formed the aldol products in up to 75% yield and with 65% ee.

Synthesis of ferrocenyl pyrazoles by the reaction of (2-formyl-1-chlorovinyl)ferrocene with hydrazines
Zora, Metin (Elsevier BV, 2007-10-15)
Synthesis of ferrocenyl-substituted pyrazoles via the reaction between (2-formyl-1-chlorovinyl)ferrocene and hydrazine derivatives is described. Depending upon the substitution pattern of hydrazine, the reaction affords 1-alkyl/aryl-5-ferrocenylpyrazoles and/or 1-alkyl/ aryl-3-ferrocenylpyrazoles. The reaction appears to be general for a variety of hydrazine derivatives.
