Thermogravimetric and mass spectrometric (TG-MS) analysis and kinetics of coal-biomass blends
Jayaraman, Kandasamy; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Gokalp, Iskender (2017-02-01)
In this research, thermogravimetric and mass-spectrometric (TG-MS) analysis and kinetics of coal biomass blends (25, 50 and 75 wt%) was studied. All the experiments were performed at 20 degrees C/min. heating rate and under air atmosphere. The reaction regions, peak and burn-out temperatures, mass loss, maximum mass loss rate, combustion index and residue of the samples was determined. This research also focused on the main volatile products release, such as H-2, O-2, CO, CO2 and hydrocarbons from coal biom...
Thermoplastic response of a linearly hardening cylinder subjected to nonuniform heat source and convective boundary condition
Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim (Informa UK Limited, 2004-05-01)
An analytical model based on Tresca's yield criterion and its L associated flow rule is developed to analyze the thermoelastoplastic response of a linearly hardening cylinder subjected to a nonuniform heat source and convective heat transfer condition at the external boundary. Closed form solutions are obtained for a state of generalized plane strain in different stages of elastic-plastic deformation. Considering a cylinder that is constrained axially, the plastic deformation commences at the axis and depen...
Solidification and crystallization behaviour of bulk glass forming alloys
Aybar, Sultan; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2007)
The aim of the study was to investigate the crystallization kinetics and solidification behaviour of Fe60Co8Mo5Zr10W2B15 bulk glass forming alloy. The solidification behaviour in near-equilibrium and non-equilibrium cooling conditions was studied. The eutectic and peritectic reactions were found to exist in the solidification sequence of the alloy. The bulk metallic glass formation was achieved by using two methods: quenching from the liquid state and quenching from the semi-state. Scanning electron microsc...
Fluorescence sensing of cations, anions and neutral molecules towards information processing at molecular level
Baytekin, H. Tarık; Akkaya, Engin Umut; Department of Chemistry (2002)
Chromo and fluoro ionophores based on donor (D)-acceptor (A) system in which the ligand is part of the n system of the chromophores have received considerable attention over the last years. Perturbation of the % system by metal in complexation leads to spectral shifts and changes of the emissive properties. Because the aza groups responsible for metal cation binding are also directly involved with the formation of the charge-transfer excited state complexes, metal binding by perylene crown should have a dra...
Exergy balance of a general system with variation of environmental conditions and some applications
Gogus, YA; Camdali, U; Kavsaoglu, MS (2002-07-01)
An exergy balance of a system helps to identify causes of losses. Establishing an exergy balance necessitates correction terms if environmental conditions change over the time period under consideration or the system is moving with respect to the environment. Applications show that these effects are considerable in some cases. On the other hand an exergy balance is also a means for checking a computational procedure.
