The purpose of this study was to examine whether the feedback schedule controlled by the learner created an optimal environment for retention of motor skills. Two experiments were conducted and participants were randomly assigned to a Control (100% KR), 20% RF KR, Self-controlled and Yoked conditions. In experiment one an anticipation timing task and in experiment two a ball throwing task was used. The second experiment also included a transfer test in order to measure the persistence of the acquired capability for performance. Absolute constant error (

Effect of individualized cognitive and postural task difficulty levels on postural control during dual task condition
Gursoy, Zeren G.; Yilmaz, Ugur; ÇELİK, HÜSEYİN; Arpinar-Avsar, Pinar; Kirazcı, Sadettin (2022-07-01)
© 2022 Elsevier B.V.Background: Previous dual task studies suggested that the difficulty of the concurrent cognitive and motor tasks may not be challenging to the same degree for each person. This study approaches this problem by setting individualized difficulty levels for tasks to examine the dual task interference. Research question: Do the features of postural sway depend on increased individualized difficulty levels of concurrent cognitive and postural activities? Methods: 20 young healthy participants...
Effects of internal, external and preference of attentional focus feedback on learning volleyball "tennis" serve of 12-13 years old children
Ayan, Duygu; Kirazcı, Sadettin; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2007)
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of internal and external focus feedback and their preference on skill learning at age of 12-13 years. Internal focus feedback related with body movements, whereas external focus feedbacks related with movement effects. As a task “tennis” service in volleyball was used for both acquisition and retention measurements. The subjects (N=78) were randomly assigned to three groups which were internal focus feedback group (IFF), external focus feedback group (EFF...
EFFECTS OF VERBAL AND VISUAL FEEDBACK ON ANTICIPATION TIMING
Kirazcı, Sadettin (2013-01-01)
My purpose in this study was to examine the effect of verbal and visual feedback on an anticipation-timing task during a series of acquisition and retention trials. Participants were 48 high school students who were randomly assigned to visual-visual, visual-verbal, verbal-visual, and verbal-verbal conditions. I used a Bassin Anticipation Timer to measure coincidence-anticipation timing. Absolute error and variable error were calculated for 4 blocks of 10 trials in the acquisition phases, and 2 blocks of 10...
Effects of Combined Peer-Teacher Feedback on Second Language Writing Development
Demirel, Elif; Enginarlar, Hüsnü (2016-10-01)
This study attempts to test the effectiveness of a feedback model which combines teacher and peer feedback systematically on improving students' writing ability in the context of a multiple draft writing course. 57 Turkish EFL students participated in the study which lasted for a 15-week semester. The experimental and control groups were provided different feedback treatments and then statistically compared in terms of the revisions they made in their essay drafts and their writing improvement. A total of 1...
Effect of human prior knowledge on game success and comparison with reinforcement learning
Hasanoğlu, Mert.; Çakır, Murat Perit; Department of Cognitive Sciences (2019)
This study aims to find out the effect of prior knowledge on the success of humans in a non-rewarding game environment, and then to compare human performance with a reinforcement learning method in an effort to observe to what extent this method can be brought closer to human behavior and performance with the data obtained. For this purpose, different versions of a simple 2D game were used, and data were collected from 32 participants. At the end of the experiment, it is concluded that prior knowledge, such...
