The purpose of this study was to examine how different feedback conditions effect the skill learning in basketball. Two task were selected and participants were randomly grouped and assigned to the verbal, visual + verbal, and visual feedback groups. In task one, a continuos skill of basketball, dribbling and in task two a discrete skill of basketball lay up skill were used. Two experts evaluated performances of the participants. In the study first a pre test applied to the subjects to form the groups than a day later subjects performed both task 15 times (5 trails in 3 sets) and get relevant feedback after every 5 trails for three consequent days. 72 hours later a retention test was applied to the subjects to test learning. A 3 ́2 (Group Ćondition) ANOVA was used to calculate the differences between the groups in the pre test and post test conditions. The results indicated no significant difference between the groups for the two skills in the pre test but the post-test results indicated significant difference among the verbal to visual + verbal group, visual to visual + verbal group and verbal and visual group. The total difference scores of the groups were also significant where visual + verbal condition indicated the highest improvement whereas the visual condition indicated the least improvement in the two selected basketball skills. The study indicated that the verbal feedback for novice group caused better improvement and retention of the dribbling and lay-up basketball skills compared to the visual feedback group. Effects of Combined Peer-Teacher Feedback on Second Language Writing Development
Demirel, Elif; Enginarlar, Hüsnü (2016-10-01)
This study attempts to test the effectiveness of a feedback model which combines teacher and peer feedback systematically on improving students' writing ability in the context of a multiple draft writing course. 57 Turkish EFL students participated in the study which lasted for a 15-week semester. The experimental and control groups were provided different feedback treatments and then statistically compared in terms of the revisions they made in their essay drafts and their writing improvement. A total of 1...
Determine he effects of long term playing socer on the degeneration of lumbar spine
Altunsöz, Ömür Serdal; Korkusuz, Feza; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2006)
The main purpose of this study was to determine whether playing soccer at high intensity training for a long period causes degeneration of the lumbar spine or not. This degeneration may occur without any symptoms or low back pain. Results of the present study were discussed in the framework of lumbar disc degeneration, trunk strength, lumbar and hip bone mineral density, trunk flexibility, activity MET scores for active and veteran soccer groups. There have been four subject groups in this study (15 active ...
Effects of internal, external and preference of attentional focus feedback on learning volleyball "tennis" serve of 12-13 years old children
Ayan, Duygu; Kirazcı, Sadettin; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2007)
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of internal and external focus feedback and their preference on skill learning at age of 12-13 years. Internal focus feedback related with body movements, whereas external focus feedbacks related with movement effects. As a task “tennis” service in volleyball was used for both acquisition and retention measurements. The subjects (N=78) were randomly assigned to three groups which were internal focus feedback group (IFF), external focus feedback group (EFF...
Effects of Internal, External and Preference of Attentional Focus Feedback Instructions on Learning Soccer "Head Kick"
Micoogullari, Blent Okan; Kirazcı, Sadettin; Altunsoz, Omur Serdal (2012-01-01)
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different types of feedback on learning soccer "head kick" of female adolescent. Novices performed head kick during two practice days [one week apart) for two weeks using either internal or external preference attentional focusing instructions. There was also a preference group who choosen their feedback type themselves. Internal focus feedback related with body movements, whereas external focus feedback related with movement effects. The subjects (N=6...
Effects of eccentric hamstring training on lower extremity strength and landing kinetics in female recreational athletes
Salcı, Yaşar; Korkusuz, Feza; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2008)
The purpose of this study was to display increase in eccentric hamstring strength after 10-weeks training program. Secondly, if such an increase occurred, would this strength change result in altered landing kinetics and improved jumping performance? 27 recreational female athletes assigned into experimental (n = 14) and control (n = 13) groups. Baseline measures of landing kinetics were collected using a force plate, strength data and proprioceptive measurements were evaluated using an isokinetic dynamomet...
