Circular plates on elastic foundations modelled with annular plates
Utku, M; Citipitioglu, E; Inceleme, I (1998-08-21)
In this paper, a new formulation is presented for the analysis of circular plates supported on elastic foundations. The formulation is based on the flexibility and stiffness methods of structural analysis. Classical thin plate theory for small deformations is applied to obtain the flexibility and stiffness coefficients. The circular plate is represented as a series of simply supported annular plates resting on support springs along their common edges. The computer implementation of the method is given, and ...

Circular Target Detection Algorithm on Satellite Images based on Radial Transformation
Zerman, Emin; Bati, Emrecan; Akar, Gözde; Baseski, Emre; Duzgun, Sebnem (2014-04-25)
Remote sensing is used in a spreading manner by many governmental and industrial institutions worldwide in recent years. Target detection has an important place among the applications developed using satellite imagery. In this paper, an original circular target detection algorithm has been proposed based on a radial transformation. The algorithm consists of three stages such as pre-processing, target detection, and post-processing. In the pre-processing stage, bilateral noise reduction filtering and vegetat...
Circular arrays of log-periodic antennas for broadband applications
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2006-11-10)
Circular arrays of log-periodic (LP) antennas are designed for broadband applications. A sophisticated electromagnetic simulation environment involving integral equations and fast solvers is developed to analyze the LP arrays both accurately and efficienuy. The resulting matrix equation obtained by the discretization of the electric field integral equation is solved iteratively via the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Genetic algorithms interacting with MLFMA is employed to optimize the excitati...
Elliptical Pin Fins as an Alternative to Circular Pin Fins for Gas Turbine Blade Cooling Applications Part 2 Wake Flow Field Measurements and Visualization Using Particle Image Velocimetry
Uzol, Oğuz (null; 2001-06-07)
Extensive wake flow field measurements and visualizations are conducted using particle image velocimetry (PIV) inside the wakes of the elliptical and circular pin fin arrays in order to better understand the flow physics and the loss mechanisms of these devices. The true-mean velocity field inside the wake two diameters downstream of the pin fin arrays is obtained by collecting and ensemble averaging a large number of PIV samples in the midplane of the test section. Additional experiments are also conducted...
