Kızılcahamam Geothermal Field which is 70 km far from Ankara, has been utilized for Geothermal District Heating System, 25 MWt, 2500 residences capacity, greenhouses heating, thermal facilities since 1994. The average production rate is 350m3/h during the heating season , 150m3/h during the summer season for hot water and yearly average reinjection rate is 114m3/h from the field. The long term projections has been studied concerning on expected pressure decline by matching 10 years field history data which contain dynamic level and temperature data. The pressure decline is 140 kPa in the field between 1999 and 2005 with the existing reinjection rate, if the existing rates do not change, the additional pressure decline which is 120 kPa will be occurred up to 2011. In order to get more information from the field, the fluorescein as tracer has been injected in to the MTA-1, and the samples were collected from the MTA-2, Fethi Bey, IHL-1 and IHL-3 for 3 months. The fluorescein concentration has been detected by using fluorimeter, and tracer concentration time plots were analyzed. The fluoreiscein was detected in short breakthrough time in MTA-2 and Fethi Bey which are close to reinjection well, breakthrough time is longer in IHL-1 and IHL-3. The interpretation of tracer test shows that there is communication between all wells. Tracer concentration time plots were compared with different mathematical models, the best match was obtained with multi-fractured model. These results show that Kızılcahamam field is not homogeneous field. It is expected that increasing the reinjection rate will decrease the pressure decline in the field.

Characterization and Comparison of geothermal fluids geochemistry within the Kızıldere Geothermal Field in Turkey: New findings with power capacity expanding studies
Tut Haklıdır , Füsun S.; Şengün, Raziye; Aydın, Hakkı (Elsevier BV, 2021-7)
The Kızıldere geothermal field is the first known high-temperature geothermal field in Turkey. The field is located in the Büyük Menderes Graben (BMG), Western Anatolia (Turkey). There are four production sections (reservoir-I, II, III, and IV) with different rock compositions and geochemical characteristics in the production area. Identifying and characterizing these production units may give a good insight into field development plans for a sustainable production. This study aims to characterize productio...
Comprehensive tracer testing in the Germencik field
Akın, Serhat (null; 2018-02-14)
Germencik Geothermal Field, which is one of the oldest high enthalpy geothermal fields in Turkey, is operational since 2009. As of 2017, two 47.4 MWe dual flash and four 22.5 MWe binary power plants have been constructed to exploit liquid dominated reservoir with feed zone temperatures as high as 234C. In order to optimize re-injection a tracer test where three different naphthalene sulfonates tracers were simultaneously injected into three different re-injection wells, was conducted. Quantitative and qual...
Estimation of upcoming problems in Alaşehir geothermal field using a numerical reservoir model
Aydin, Hakki; Akın, Serhat (2021-04-01)
Alaehir geothermal area located in Alaehir Graben, West Anatolia, is the latest target for geothermal field development in Turkey. Seven different operators are developing the power capacity in this geothermal field on a strictly competitive and largely confidential basis without the significant exchange of resource information among them. Currently, eleven binary and combined flash-binary geothermal power plants with widely changing power generation efficiency between plants produce from the same reservoir...
Evolution of Balcova Geothermal District Heating System Turkey
Parlaktuna, Mahmut (null; 2015-04-23)
Balçova geothermal field is located in a densely populated area which makes direct heat applications very efficient and economical. Heat produced from Balçova geothermal field is utilized for three main purposes: greenhouse heating, balneology and residential heating. Among these three applications, the latter one is the main application throughout the Balçova Geothermal District Heating System (BGDHS). The field produces hot water from two different horizons: one shallow and one deeper zone. This paper pre...
High-volume natural volcanic pozzolan and limestone powder as partial replacements for portland cement in self-compacting and sustainable concrete
Celik, K; Jackson, MD; Mancio, M; Akgül, Çağla; Emwas, A-H; Mehta, PK; Monteiro, PJM (Elsevier BV, 2014-01-01)
A laboratory study demonstrates that high volume, 45% by mass replacement of portland cement (OPC) with 30% finely-ground basaltic ash from Saudi Arabia (NP) and 15% limestone powder (LS) produces concrete with good workability, high 28-day compressive strength (39 MPa), excellent one year strength (57 MPa), and very high resistance to chloride penetration. Conventional OPC is produced by intergrinding 95% portland clinker and 5% gypsum, and its clinker factor (CF) thus equals 0.95. With 30% NP and 15% LS p...
