Türkiye'deki Jeotermal Bölge Isıtma Sistemlerinin Gelişimi
Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Parlaktuna, Burak (2021-07-06)
Turkey is one of the few countries that has almost all possible applications of geothermal energy. Geothermal district heating has a relatively short history (since 1987) compared to other direct utilization but plays important economic, social and environmental roles in some towns. There are 18 geothermal district heating systems (GDHS), mainly in the Aegean region with resource temperatures between 57–145C. Current heating capacities of those systems are in the range of 570 to 37500 Residence Equivalent ...
Evaluation of microplastics removal efficiency at a wastewater treatment plant discharging to the Sea of Marmara
Vardar, Suat; Onay, Turgut T.; Demirel, Burak; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan (2021-11-15)
Levels, composition and fate of microplastics (MPs) were investigated along different compartments of a secondary wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with nutrient removal on the northern Sea of Marmara coast (Istanbul, Turkey). When all samples were combined, fibers were found to be the most dominant particles, followed by hard fragments. 500–1000 μm and 1000–2000 μm were the most common size ranges for wastewater and sludge, respectively. Rate of removal differed for sizes and shapes of the particles combin...

EVALUATION OF LOW GRADE IRON ORE DEPOSIT IN ERZINCAN-TURKEY FOR IRON ORE PELLET CONCENTRATE PRODUCTION
SİVRİKAYA, OSMAN; Arol, Ali İhsan (2012-01-01)
In this study the separation possibility of gangue minerals from a low grade magnetite ore with 45% Fe from an iron ore deposit located near Erzincan-Turkey was investigated. The iron ore deposit consists of mainly magnetite mineral. Hematite is the second iron oxide found in the deposit. The gangue minerals contain mainly SiO2 and Al2O3 impurities. The main object of the research is to investigate the production of a concentrate suitable for iron ore pellet production. The concentrate for pellet production...
Evaluation of natural ventilation systems in tall buildings considering altitude based environmental variations
Karadağ, İlker; Zeytun Çakmaklı, Ayşem Berrin; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2014)
Buildings relied on natural ventilation strategies alone for many centuries up to the post-World War II period in which cheap energy started to liberate architecture from its connection with the natural environment. Then, the economic downturn in the 1970s, fuelled by the worldwide energy crisis in 1973 drew the attention to reduction and conservation of energy, the response was the model of the sealed glass box with an acceptance of the air-conditioning system. This resulted in Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)...
