Characteristics of free overfall for supercritical flows
Tokyay, Nuray (2007-02-01)
The characteristics of supercritical flow at a vertical drop in a rectangular channel are studied experimentally to obtain information that would be valuable to designers of hydraulic structures. The relationship between the ratio of brink depth to the depth of upstrearn supercritical flow (i.e., end-depth ratio) and the Froude number is determined. Downstream from the vertical drop, the physical characteristics of the failing jet are examined, such as the height of the standing water behind the jet, the ma...
Characteristics of electron traps in Si-doped Ga0.51In0.49P and electrical properties of modulation doped GaInP/InGaAs/GaAs heterostructures
Beşikci, Cengiz (1999-01-29)
In order to investigate the feasibility of Si-doped Ga0.51In0.49P for modulation-doped field effect transistor applications, single Ga0.51In0.49P llayers and Ga0.51In0.49P/InxGa1-xAs/GaAs (x = 0, 0.15 and 0.25) modulation doped heterostructures grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy were characterized through deep level transient spectroscopy and Hall-effect measurements. Electrical characterization of the undoped and moderately Si-doped (N-D = 3 x 10(17) cm(-3)) GaInP layers yielded an electron trap wi...
Characteristics of polylactide composites involving montmorillonite and boron compounds
Akar, Alinda Öykü; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2016)
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer and it is accepted as a promising alternative to the petroleum based materials. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the type and the amount of boron compounds with the addition of nanoclay to thermal, mechanical properties and flame retardancy of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) based nanocomposites. By this aim, zinc borate (ZnB), benzene-1,4-diboronic acid (BDBA) and Cloisite 30B (C30B) are used as an additive in PLA ...
Characteristics of dual-type electrochromic devices based on poly(ethylene oxide) copolymers
Yildiz, Huseyin Bekir; Sahin, Elif; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yagci, Yusuf (Wiley, 2007-05-01)
Dual-type polymer electrochromic devices based on [(3-thienyl)methylmethacrylate]-co-[p-vinyl benzyloxy poly(ethylene oxide)]/polythiophene and thiophene-capped poly(ethylene oxide)/polythiophene and ethylene dioxythiophene were constructed via electropolymerization. Spectroelectrochemistry, switching ability and stability of the devices were investigated using UV-visible spectrophotometry and cyclic voltammetry. These devices exhibit low switching; voltages and short switching times with reasonable switchi...
Characteristics of traps in AgIn5S8 single crystals
Özdemir, Salahattin; Firat, Tezer (Elsevier BV, 2014-10)
Characteristics of charge traps in AgIn5S8 single crystals are investigated by the use of Thermally Stimulated Current (TSC) technique. The TSC spectra of the unintentionally doped sample recorded at a constant heating rate from 80 K to 300 K reveals a single broad peak at similar to 90 K. The shift of the TSC peak continuously due to post-illumination preheating process confirmed the continuous trap distribution, which is Gaussian in shape. The trap density distribution changes from similar to 40 meV on th...
