One dimensional molecular potentials are studied by solving the Schrödinger Equation for some well known potentials, such as the deformed Morse, Eckart and the Hua potentials. Parametric generalization of Hamiltonian Hierarchy is introduced. Nikiforov-Uvarov method and SUSYQM with Hamiltonian Hierarchy method is used in the calculations to get energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions exactly.

Discrete symmetries in quantum theory
Taşdan, İsmail Ufuk; Pak, Namık Kemal; Department of Physics (2015)
In this thesis, one of the most central problems of modern physics, namely the discrete symmetries, is discussed from various perspectives ranging from classical mechanics to relativistic quantum theory. The discrete symmetries, namely charge conjugation (C), parity (P), time reversal (T), which are connected by the so-called CPT Theorem are studied in detail. The anti-particles with a view to matter-anti-matter symmetry is also addressed and the anti-unitarity nature of the time reversal, as well as the CP...
Nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor heterostructures
Yıldırım, Hasan; Tomak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2006)
The nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor heterostructures, such as GaAsAl/GaAs alloys, are studied with analytic and numerical methods on the basis of quantum mechanics. Particularly, second and third-order nonlinear optical properties of quantum wells described by the various types of confining potentials are considered within the density matrix formalism. We consider a Pöschl-Teller type potential which has been rarely considered in this area. It has a tunable asymmetry parameter, making it a goo...
Quantum mechanical calculation of nitrous oxide decomposition on transition metals
Karaöz, Muzaffer Kaan; Önal, Işık; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
Nitrous oxide decomposition on Ag51, Au51, Pt22, Rh51 and Ir51 clusters representing (111) surface were studied quantum mechanically by using the method of ONIOM with high layer DFT region and low layer of molecular mechanics region utilizing universal force field (UFF). The basis set employed in the DFT calculations is the Los Alamos LANL2DZ effective core pseudo-potentials (ECP) for silver, gold, platinum, rhodium and iridium and 3-21G** for nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen. Nitrous oxide was decomposed on t...
Weight discrimination of boolean functions with quantum computation
Uyanık, Kıvanç; Turgut, Sadi; Department of Physics (2014)
In this thesis, we investigate solvability of the weight decision problem of two Boolean functions by quantum computation. In particular, we study this problem first from a general quantum operator discrimination perspective and second from a direct algorithmic viewpoint. As quantum operator discrimination approach is concerned, we give two different formulations for two different cases. In one, the unitary transformations that correspond to the function evaluation are applied in a parallel fashion and in t...
