The authors have developed a unity power factor sinusoidal current input induction cooker having an input side filter for conducted EMI noise. This paper proposes that the conducted EMI for the type of power electronics equipment considered here can be easily identified by making EMI current measurements on the system by eliminating the earth wire. A filter design based on this assumption is made and its results are compared with a filter designed using conventional noise separation technique. It is found that the proposed approach simplifies the measurements and the design process and permits quick design of the filter in the development stage.

A Near State PWM Method With Reduced Switching Frequency And Reduced Common Mode Voltage For Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverters
Un, Emre; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2007-05-05)
The Near State PWM (NSPWM) method, which reduces the common mode voltage/current, is proposed for three-phase PWM inverter drives. The optimal voltage vectors and their sequences are determined. The voltage linearity and DC bus and AC output PWM current ripple characteristics are studied. The method is thoroughly investigated and its performance is compared to conventional methods. Theory, simulations, and experiments show that NSPWM exhibits superior common mode and satisfactory PWM ripple performance char...
A novel approach to detection of some parameters of induction motors
Özlü Ertan, Hatice Gülçin; Colak, Baris (2007-05-05)
This paper describes a novel approach for offline stator leakage inductance and online stator resistance estimation that can be used for self-tuning of induction motor drives. The paper briefly describes the theory behind the approach. The proposed methods are experimentally tested on an industrial induction motor and also tested on a washing machine motor designed for variable speed operation. Test results are given and the robustness of the approach is illustrated.
A Near-State PWM Method With Reduced Switching Losses and Reduced Common-Mode Voltage for Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverters
Uen, Emre; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2009-03-01)
The near-state pulsewidth modulation (NSPWM) method, which reduces the common-mode voltage/current, is proposed for three-phase pulsewidth modulation (PWM) inverter drives. The method is described, its optimal voltage vectors are found, and the sequence that these vectors are applied is determined. Its voltage linearity and de bus and ac output PWM current ripple characteristics are studied. Its output line-to-line voltage pattern is carefully studied with regard to switching transients that may cause overv...
A Simple and Novel Modulation Technique Used to Obtain Output Voltage Having a Frequency Multiple of Input Voltage Frequency
Salimi, A.; Mansourpour, S.; Ziar, H.; Afjei, E. (2011-09-10)
This paper introduces a new modulation method that can be adopted to obtain various possible output voltages depending on the switching topology and the voltage inputs available. This method is used to obtain a sinusoidal voltage waveform with a frequency which is a multiple of the frequency of the sinusoidal input voltage. There are various applications that need a variable frequency input and a limitation is that three-phase supply is not always available. A good example to this would be single-phase indu...
A New Phase Measurement Technique for RF Power Amplifier Only Measuring Magnitudes
Yuzer, A. H.; Demir, Şimşek (2010-07-08)
In this study, a new phase measurement setup to measure magnitudes and phases of the fundamental components and intermodulation created by an amplifier under two tone excitation is reported. There are three signal generators, one digital attenuator and one spectrum analyzer in the measurement setup. There is no need to any other special electronic circuits (e.g., mixer, filter, etc.). Phase is found/measured mathematically based on magnitude measurements. Also absolute phase difference between the frequency...
