ATEŞ, UFUK; Gollu, Gulnur; Bingol-Kologlu, Meltem; BİLLUR, DENİZ; Kucuk, Gonul; Oruklu, Nihan; Bagriacik, Umit; Hasırcı, Nesrin; DİNDAR, HÜSEYİN (2015-12-01)
Purpose: We evaluated the effects of local and systemic growth hormone on the germ cell population of the contralateral testes of pubertal rats subjected to unilateral testicular torsion and orchiectomy 24 hours later.
The Effects of Chloramphenicol on Some Biochemical Parameters in Mice
Ege, Hismiogullari Sahver; Tunay, Kontas; Adil, Hismiogullari Adnan; Dinc, Essiz; Gokhan, Eraslan (2008-12-01)
The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of some dose regimens of chloramphenicol on some biochemical parameters in mice for acute and subacute periods. Chloramphenicol was given to the experimental groups at the doses of 100 mg kg(-1) bw (group 2) and 200 mg kg(-1) bw (group 3) in drinking water for 7 days. Blood samples were taken from all animals on day 0, 1, 7 and 14 of the study. The hepatotoxic effect of cloramphenicol occurred in groups 2 and 3 with increasing doses of cloramphenicol. Hepa...
The structural effects of Vitamin A deficiency on biological macromolecules due to ethanol consumption and withdrawal: An FTIR study with chemometrics
ELİBOL, BİRSEN; Severcan, Mete; Jakubowska-Dogru, Ewa; DURSUN, İLKNUR; Severcan, Feride (2022-04-01)
The structural effects of vitamin A-deficiency were examined on the molecular profiles of biomolecules of male rat hippocampus during prolonged ethanol intake/withdrawal using FT-IR spectroscopy coupled with chemometrics. Liquid ethanol diet with/without vitamin A was maintained to adult rats for 3-months. The rats were decapitated at different ethanol withdrawal times and FT-IR spectra were obtained. Ethanol consumption/withdrawal produced significant changes in proteins' conformations, while having insign...
Effects of Local and Sustained Release of FGF, IGF, and GH on Germ Cells in Unilateral Undescended Testis in Rats
Bingol-Kologlu, Meltem; Bahadir, G. Berktug; Vargun, Rahsan; Ilkay, Hande; Bagriacik, E. Umit; Yolbakan, Sultan; Guven, Cengiz; Endogan, Tugba; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Dindar, Huseyin (2010-01-01)
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effects of the local release of fibroblast growth factor (FGF), insulin-like growth factor (IGF), and growth hormone (GH) on a germ cell population of ipsilateral undescended and contralateral descended testes of rats with a surgically created unilateral abdominal testis for 12 weeks and after the application of growth factors after orchidopexy.
The effect of arginine-428 mutation on modulation of activity of human liver flavin monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) by imipramine and chlorpromazine
Adalı, Orhan; Philpot, RM (1999-07-01)
This study was carried out to investigate the molecular basis for modulation of recombinant FMO3-catalyzed activity by the tricyclicantidepressants, imipramine and chlorpromazine. A mutant of human liver FMO3 (T428R) was formed by site-directed mutagenesis and characterized along with the native enzyme in order to elucidate a possible structure-function relationship. Functional properties of native and T428R human FMO3s were studied with methimazole as substrate. Both enzymes catalyzed the S-oxidation of me...
