Mesoporous zirconia and nickel incorporated zirconia catalysts were prepared following different routes. Synthesis of mesoporous zirconia and Ni incorporated zirconia with very narrow pore size distributions and high surface area was achieved. Ni incorporated mesoporous zirconia materials showed high activity in carbon dioxide reforming of methane, performed at 600 degrees C. Coke formation during dry reforming was eliminated over the Ni incorporated zirconia catalyst prepared by the one-pot procedure, using Pluronic P123 as the surfactant. It was shown that Ni was very well distributed within this material with cluster sizes smaller than the detection limit of XRD. This catalyst also showed highly stable catalytic performance. However, the catalysts prepared by the impregnation method showed higher activity but much higher coke formation than the catalyst prepared by the one-pot route. Effect of W incorporation on the product distribution in steam reforming of bio-oil derived acetic acid over Ni based Zr-SBA-15 catalyst

Zirconia incorporated SBA-15 type mesoporous material was synthesized following a one pot hydrothermal route, characterized and used as the catalyst support in the synthesis of Ni and bi-metallic Ni W based catalysts. Performances of these catalysts were tested in steam reforming of AcOH. Catalytic activity tests proved that the performances of SBA-15 and Zr-SBA-15 supported Ni based catalysts were highly stable and they also showed very high activity in steam reforming of acetic acid, giving complete conve...
Effect of YF3 on hot-pressed hydroxyapatite and monoclinic zirconia composites
Evis, Zafer (2007-09-15)
Monoclinic zirconia and hydroxyapatite (HA) composites with or without 5 wt% YF3 were synthesized to investigate their mechanical properties and phase stability. HA decomposed to tri-calcium-phosphate and CaZrO3 in the 25 wt% ZrO2-75 wt% HA composite. However, thermal stability of the phases, densification, hardness and fracture toughness were improved when 5 wt% YF3 was added into the system. Five weight percent YF3 increased the transformation of monoclinic-ZrO2 into tetragonal/cubic-ZrO2 by incorporating...
Effect of bacterial treatment on silver recovery from Artvin-Kafkasor ore
Ozdemir, Z; Ozbayoglu, G; Atalay, U; Özcengiz, Gülay; Alaeddinoglu, G (2000-10-18)
The enhancement of the extraction of silver from Artvin-Kafkasor ore have been studied by the application of bio-oxidation with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans. The effects of various parameters such as bacterial treatment duration, inoculum size and growth kinetics were investigated. The bacterial treatment of -208 mum size ore with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans before cyanidation resulted in silver recoveries of above 60% while direct cyanidation could only yield 40.36% silver recovery.
Contribution of Pd Membrane to Dehydrogenation of Isobutane Over a New Mesoporous Cr/MCM-41 Catalyst
ÇETİNYOKUŞ, SALİHA; DOĞAN, MELTEM; Doğu, Timur (2016-06-01)
A chromium incorporated mesoporous silicate structured Cr/MCM-41 type catalyst was synthesized following a one-pot hydrothermal route and tested in dehydrogenation of isobutane to isobutene in a Pd membrane reactor. Characterization results of the catalyst proved that it had ordered pore structure with a narrow pore size distribution. This catalyst showed quite high activity for the dehydrogenation of isobutane. Membrane reactor tests performed at 823 K proved the advantages of in-situ removal of produced h...
Effect of pH, flow rate and concentration on the sorption of Pb and Cd on montmorillonite: I. Experimental
Altin, O; Ozbelge, OH; Doğu, Timur (Wiley, 1999-12-01)
Continuous column adsorption of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) was studied using pH adjustment and calcium-saturated montmorillonite in a short stainless steel column. Changing either pH or flow rate, while keeping inlet concentration of the ions constant, led to considerable changes in effluent concentrations and breakthrough curves (BTCs). At low pH values (2-4), H+ ions competed strongly with lead and cadmium ions; at intermediate pH (4-6), ionic size played the major role in adsorption and ion exchange and ...
