In this research, thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) was used to determine the kinetic analysis of different coals and effect of cleaning process on kinetic parameters of raw and cleaned coal samples from Soma, Tuncbilek and Afsin Elbistan regions. Kinetic parameters of the samples were determined using Arrhenius and Coats and Redfern kinetic models and the results are discussed.

Comparative Pyrolysis and Combustion Kinetics of Oil Shales
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2000-02-01)
In this research, thermal characteristics and kinetic parameters of eight Turkish oil shale samples were determined by thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) at non-isothermal heating conditions both for pyrolysis and combustion processes. A general computer program was developed and the methods are compared with regard to their accuracy and the ease of interpretation of the kinetics of thermal decomposition. Activation energies of the samples were determined by five different methods and the results are discussed.
Thermal characterization and gasification kinetics of thrace-saray region coal
Yıldırım, Betül; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2015)
In this thesis being up as-received and washed and dried, two different coal samples from Saray-Edirkoy field were experimented in order to determine effects of different variables as coal type, heating rate, gas flow rate, isothermal duration, gasifying medium, and final gasification temperature, on isothermal gasification profiles of the coal samples. In the scope of this study, heating rate was changed in the range of 20-50oC/min as 20, 30, 40 and 50oC/min whereas two different gas flow rate values as 60...
Effect of different clay concentrations on crude oil combustion kinetics by thermogravimetry
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2010-03-01)
The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of different clay composition and concentrations on the thermal behaviour and kinetics of heavy crude oil in limestone matrix by thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). In TG/DTG experiments, three distinct reaction regions were identified in all of the crude oil + limestone mixture known as low temperature oxidation (LTO), fuel deposition (FD) and high temperature oxidation (HTO) respectively. Addition of clay to porous matrix significantly affected the react...

An investigation into the thermal behavior of coals
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2002-10-01)
The thermal behavior of 4 coal samples was investigated using simultaneous thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) methods. Upon heating the coals in an inert atmosphere up to 800degreesC, 31.44-43.82% weight loss occurs. The 2 temperature regions of increased chemical reactivity are evident in the coal samples studied Two different models determined kinetic analysis of the samples, and the results are discussed.
